I had to snag this thing up. An 05 Typhoon with....not even 1200 miles on it. I had to. Some scrapes, electric start doesnt work, turn singnals are kinda messed up, but thats small potatoes. Clutch is perhaps slipping a bit, but this bike runs so good. So smooth, and ill have to get 0-20, 0-30 and 0-40 times later on, but its honestly pretty good for now. It pulled my 190 pounds to 41.66 mph, which is honestly pretty okay. The plan for this guy is simple, no big bore kit, no big carb, none of that. Maybe some lighter weights, performance variator, performance clutch, Polini pipe (not an expansion chamber) and some carb jetting to see what i can get out of her. Ill post results and update build progress as it comes, but for now, heres some pics from a little exploration ride we took the other day. Ill have the footage up on Youtube soon. The taotao isnt the fastest stock bore 50 anymore, ill just say that.....

You got yourself a piggy powered scooter there, very nice find! Lot and lots of go fast parts to be had for that platform. Slap nothing else but a sport 70cc cylinder on there and the pipe you spoke of and you will never bother to sit on a 4T again. Just saying

Just saying Honestly, I really kinda wanna get the motor sent off to have a stroker crank put in, slap a malossi kit on it, do a 24mm carb with a pipe and let her scream. I saw one video of a guy doing 76 on stock gears while still pulling like a freight train. But the other part of me wants to keep it mostly stock cause its so rare and nice

Yeah, everyone wants a go fast machine. But take my advice do NOTHING but a sport 70cc cylinder and something like a wild lion pipe and you will have a reliable scoot that will be your favorite ride day in and day out.

They have a 17.5mm carb on as standard. So once the restrictions are removed its great with just a pipe, or sports kit. Still a great looking scooter. 👍

Well, thing is, im having oil dripping from the fan area. Getting on the exhaust, and the cooling fan cover is always wet. Granted, the oil tank doesnt seal too well and there is a tad bit that splashed out and is sitting in the dip around the lid of the tank. It could be draining from there, but i doubt it. Theres a strange almost turbo blowoff sound on getting back into the throttle at speed or a takeoff. Im not gonna call it yet, but im suspecting a bad crank bearing as the reason it was so cheap. Crank at least on the variator side had no play, but idk. If it is a bad bearing, im not gonna waste time going back to stock. Motors getting yanked, tore down, and sent to Scooter Swap Shop to have a stroker crank put in. If not, ill just do basic bolt ons
