I've been pondering importing an Aerox for the last few months if its even possible, and I was wondering... what exactly would be required to get it legal? How would it pass emissions? whats the goal for emission, what yamaha states? if its 25 year old, would I have to do emissions? what would be the cost of importing an Aerox also? thank you!

Probably wouldnt be too hard, but pricey. Theres actually one for sale up on Facebook in the Yamaha Scooters group i believe. Definitely pricey. Asking 3500, not running, needs things like the exhaust and brake caliper. Most of em that come in seem to be fixer uppers. Only other guy i 100% know to have one in the U.S. is Jack Cecil. Its a pricey bike, kinda difficult to find certain things for, but if youre willing to play then id say it miiiight be worth it?

I dont see why it wouldnt be legal. Shipping wise, id personally estimate around $1000 for everything said and done. Thats just shipping, not bike purchase. Main issues i commonly see are getting it through customs. If you somehow can, im 99% sure you cant get a title. Thats the big work around. No registering, no proof its even here or paperwork to prove anything. Most scooters dont have titles anyways, so I think its less of a problem vs a car that NEEDS a title.

All I want for Christmas is a Aerox .
If you can figure out how to get one here that is ready to ride . Alot of us would be very interested .
I would find the money for it .

Someone tried to import one year's ago on this forum. I don't think he could get it through customs. Not sure what the exact reason was. You might find it searching. The one Jack has was brought in for display purposes, I remember him saying. It was never intended for the road when originally imported.

The aerox is a popular scoot here in the U.K. and I imagine in mainland Europe,if it,s apipe dream for coming years you could consider flying to Europe and riding it back through Russia which would get you much closer to North America thus cutting the shipping costs, just a tad of planning and a large pair of gnads to boot.

Ok, take this with a grain of salt. I used to import motorcycles from Japan. Specifically grey market 2 strokes. In 1994 it was pretty easy. We imported them for Off Road Use Only. We bought in 8 in one container for around $1500. Buyers were given the Japanese title and it was up to them to get it registered. Many were able to. A couple years later we imported 2 RVF400 NC35. On those we had to remove the engines and we had the engines and frames sent to two separate addresses as "Motorcycle Parts" We reassembled them here. Customs has become a LOT harder now. But possibly having the scooter partially taken apart and brought in as parts could help. Then register it as an Off Road Vehicle. That will give you a Title. Wait a bit and apply for a Street Title. You'll have to get a Brake and Light check. Good luck

Good luck Mad Where I live scooters do not require titles, registration ECT. the main thing from what I hear is COST, COST, and customs, although I've seen a business online thats in the Netherlands that claims to deal with customs. which helps considering thats where the aerox would potentially come from if I tried it.

Man, I would probably buy that less the motor. I have a built motor and a jog in shambles that I have new rims with a disk brake set up for. So I'm searching for forks and what not as well. Would be so easy if I had this. Oh well..
