So I'd been mulling over which 50cc Grom clone to pick up and due to Icebear's seemingly decent reputation and the general look of the plastics and this is what I chose. I'll add pictures and what not as I learn to navigate this joint and start the modding.

Drain and change all fluids from icebear (0il/trans). Tighten everything and retighten again after running. Run new gas and vac lines. I love my icebear!

Yah, I was going to change fluids for sure. Already did my own pdi. I'm used to nutting and bolting race cars after every race so it's kind of normal to me. The lines I'm going to pick up the surgical style they recommended. I know the ethanol in the gas kills the rubber ones over time.

Welcome to the forum. That does look like a grom. Thanks bud, much of it is quite identical to the Grom. I'll have to do a side by side comparison at the shop sometime. We have one as one of our other pit bikes we use at the tracks.

So the racing CDI and coil came in. I installed them and when I went to take it for a ride the bike didn't want to go over 20mph...it wouldn't even want to give me throttle above say 6k rpm. I unplugged the Racing CDI and put the stock back in (leaving the racing coil) and it worked fine again and seemed to pull more linear across the board. Strangely on my way back from getting the registration finished on a flat long stretch I got it up to 40mph? It seems sometimes it wants to use that upper rpm area and other times it doesn't. Typically I get 32mph into the wind and 35mph with the wind. And occasionally more but usually not less than 30mph.

Here is where the CDI and other end of the coil are located. Right side plastics off:

So I have a foam intake coming in as well, I know it's a carb issue, and I'll address that soon. I need to get a jet kit so I can fine tune the air/fuel ratio and zero in on better performance. I'll pull the plug manaña to see what color it is.

There seem to be a lot of racing CDI that are no better than stock. Or in some case's worse. 😞

Just because it says ‘racing’ on it, doesn’t mean squat. Is it based on the same motor design of the ruckus? It looks like a lot of fun! I wonder if anyone has swapped in a 150cc gy6 or better yet a 2t in one of these.

And trust me, I'm a Porsche Cup Crew Chief...I know what racing is and isn't haha. I always laugh when I see something saying "racing" on it 😂

So my mirrors and foam intake came in. Of course I immediately installed them and messed around with the bars too haha. The factory Mickey Mouse ears are now off...forever. Detail shot: The intake was simple, two 10mm bolts and the hose clamp. Before: After: Detail shot: The bike runs fine, I definitely need to re-jet it to work out the air/fuel curve.

So today it had its first real outing since the intake being added and a little carb tuning. Its much peppier off the line, feels and sounds more torquey than before and on flat ground for up to 37mph but it could have gone higher it felt.

Rear fender delete came in along with new thin signals. Quality is decent ,but nothing to write home to Mom about. The installation was simple. Pop seat off, remove four 10mm bolts and it'll drop out the rear fender/lights/plate. The wiring still needs disconnected but it's simple unplug and replug. After that line the two side finishing pieces up and bolt them on with the supplied hardware. You might have to play around with the wires, but it appears that green on an Icebear is ground (normally black). Here's how it looks now:
