Do you have one? where did you get it? battery or corded? how does it do for you on clutches, variators and axle nuts?

There is nothing like pneumatic. I have a little ryobi cordless that is pretty powerful and very handy. I wouldn't try it on a crankshaft nut though. I have a 30 year old one that is 1/2" drive, corded and has gotten me by when without a compressor. However most of the time if that lug nut on a wheel was tightened with air it isn't coming off with electric.

I have a 12 volt tire changing impact from HF that has served me well for quite a while now. I took off lug nuts with it that were installed with an air gun. It took quite a few whacks but it got them off. They hit harder when they are connected to a car battery instead of a scooter battery. I use it for Variators, clutches, flywheels and rear wheel lugs. It works great even when hooked to a scooter battery. www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-1-2-half-inch-emergency-impact-wrench-92349.htmlThey wind up and then WHACK!

Fox, Think it would take the rear wheel off a scoot?

Yeah it works great on those. You have to hit it a bunch of times sometimes but they eventually come off. Then I hit the nut 5-8 times to tighten them. You get a feel for it. Mine is probably at least 3 years old and still works well.

Some come off easier than others. It depends on whether or not it sat out in the weather. I've never had one that didn't come off. I just re did the front pads on my Scion and it removed those lug nuts too and they were tightened with a pneumatic by the guy at the Goodyear shop.

I bought a 12V cordless one built by Makita, it was on sale at the local hardware store for ~$100 one year. Bought it for removing fastening the variator and clutch bell....... never had a problem in over 3 years. Well now that I think about it, it stopped working the last time I used it. I took it apart and noticed a piece of plastic securing a metal tab the battery connects had broken, rigged it so it worked again.
For axles and tires I just use force and a long wrench.

12v emergency impact, $35, used it on clutches, variators, rear wheels, flywheels, usually 3 whacks hits it. I use a scooter battery. The battery hook up adaptor has come in handy with my portable air pump too. Light duty personal use. One of my favorite tools.
