I started to pull the intake off a Schwinn Newport 50 4stk. The 10mm would not fit. Looking at the nut and thought was wierd looking and it was 5 sided and not a 6 sided nut. First time for me.

how are you supposed to get a wrench on that? never heard of that before, unless it was designed to have its own special tool

It's a tamper resistant nut, but you can get penta socket sets. Just be glad they aren't using shear nuts.

i guess they do it to try and keep people like us from hopping them up, much like sealed carbs. i can think of no other reason to put a tamper proof nut on a scooter intake.

Actually the EPA on cars have been doing this for years. Mechanics in the trades are mostly parts replacers. Car doesn't run right start turning screws and see if that does it. I can tell you we used to fix the original problem and then after that we had to straighten out the human errors.....
