Remember these are tiny little motors.

It has been raining cold and damp today but there was enough of a break to get out there and get that carb off. Here is what I found... I was able to identify the following circuits.. Main jet Transfer circuit or low speed Idle circuit Cold fuel enrichment plunger tip in enrichment AKA power valve accelerator pump for snap acceleration While the fuel in the tank looked pretty clean the fuel in the carb was brown and crappy. Pretty obvious to me this bike was left to have all the fuel in the bowl evaporate and what was left was the gum and sludge. Issues I was able to identify.. low speed transfer circuit was completely plugged Lots of gum in the emulsion tube area of the main jet Accelerator pump would only push fuel into the bowl from the accel erator pump inlet. Accelerator pump diaphram deteriorated Have not yet test the cold fuel enrichment device I suspect it it a solenoid actuated by a temp sensor or perhaps it has a heating element that heats a wax element to move the plunger... If it wasn't for the accelerator pump diaphram I would have this back together today. But if this thing doesn't leak raw fuel surely pieces of rubber are crumbling and getting into stuff. Anyone know where to get a kit for this? Here are some pics s1012.photobucket.com/albums/af248/nwsmith427/Peace%2050cc%20scooter/

PFS sells an accelerator pump kit (Part # 151-183), but it's $16.99 plus shipping. You can find a whole new carburetor on eBay for $25 or less shipped.
Looks like you got a great deal!

If you are posting that because the part number I posted for PFS says "QMB139", they're called that and 1P39QMB and 139QMB and GY6 50 and more that I'm missing.

Just pulled the tank off and found a tiny bit of water in the fuel. Also found a small hole in the neck of the tank near the cap. This looks like maybe something someone added with a center punch? Wouldn't the gas cap be vented?
Also the black rubber washer for the screen was crumbling apart. I swear it looks like a faucet washer someone drilled the center of to accept the screen. Any substitutions for the rubber washer o-ring?

If I am going to replace the carb would there be any performance benefit to go with something larger. Say instead of 18mm go with 20 or 23mm....

Also, I tested the cold enrichment device. It had continuity so I put 12v to it and nothing happened...

For the enricher, nothing will happen at first. It takes some time, so if you didn't give it a few minutes, you'll need to. If you give it time and still nothing happens, it's bad. That doesn't matter too much though, because the new carb should include an enricher. Here's what you should be seeing...
I doubt you'd see any gains from a big carb. If you do decide to go larger though, be sure to get one with an accelerator pump. The GY6 150cc 24mm carbs are the cheap way to go (along with a 150cc intake), but most don't have accelerator pumps.
The fuel cap should be vented.

Looks like when the enricher goes bad it runs rich? I did leave it connected for a bit but not that long.. Nice Vid!
Yeah the vent. I think someone couldn't get it to run right so they thought they would re-engineer the bike. Would be pretty easy to confirm if the tank wasn't vented by loosening the cap. I think a little JB Weld on that should work.
I have the carb back together cleaned. I am going to get some new fuel line and a filter and see if it will run maybe if I have time tomorrow.

Looks like when the enricher goes bad it runs rich? Yes! The enricher is in "Rich" position when there is no voltage present. When you start the engine there is an extra jet that supplies fuel to the engine and after 30 seconds to a minute the needle on the enricher moves out closing off the enrichment jet effectively leaning out the mixture. They could have been called an "Auto Leaner" just as easily.
