Any one here ever had probs with intermittent speedometer operation with their Chinascoot. A customer of mine is experiencing this and I thought I would try to get a little input. He wants to get a new cable but I would think a cable would either be good or be no good. I called myself checking the tightness of the threaded thimble where the cable enters the speedometer housing. There was a little kink in the cable about 1 1/2 inches behind the metal sleeve where it fastens to the front wheel. Help! I do not have the scooter on hand at this time.

I've had a speedometer that would be fine sometimes and jump around or be way over speed other times. I lubed the cable and used fresh grease in the wheel hub section and made sure the tabs were OK and everything was tight. It still acted stupid. I can't tell you what fixes it because I picked up a bicycle speedo and never looked back. Checke the tabs inside the pickup at the wheel and make sure there's grease in there. If the tabs are bent the wrong way a little they could possibly miss at times. Could be something in the speedo itself.

Thanks. I'll check that next time I can get my hands on it. ;D When it works it works smooth.
