Have you considered trying to run a colder plug with the 110 jet in?

Have you considered trying to run a colder plug with the 110 jet in? That's not a bad idea either. Am currently running BPR7HSA. I have some BR8's on hand. Can give them a shot.

I second the plug. I’d give an 8 and 9 a shot.
I have a bad habit of chasing jetting issues that are actually ignition issues like this…

Yep! I agree it can't hurt at all. Prompted me to start reading up on colder plugs. I'm a pick a 9 up while I'm at the auto parts store tomorrow. Let's give 'em a shot.
Really appreciate the advice! I am as paranoid as it gets when it comes to the motor. After losing the original 50cc engine to failed oil pump, I err on the side of caution.

Alright! Colder plugs in hand. Had to really search around for the 9s. We'll get this thing sorted out in the morning.

Hmm. Just pulled the br7 plug. Little spheres all over and what appears to be some scorching. I don't have a lot of experience with this, but doesn't quite look like detonation. Maybe some carbon or ash fouling? Could that rattle I'm hearing actually be a sputter, mean that I am still slightly rich? Temps never got very high >280. I am a dumb ass though and snapped the ring on my sensor taking the plug out. 🤦♂️ This is why I always keep spares. Anyway. I got the br8 plug in, so let's see how she runs. I know for a fact the 115 is too rich, so I'm a start off the the 112 and see how she rolls.

Could be too rich, but also too hot a plug. Would leave the jetting alone and try the colder 8 plug. See what it's like.

Raised needle. Hanging idle is now gone but sputter is still there. Looking at the plug, it's gotta be rich condition. Not bad though. It's dark, but not wet. think it's an issue of needle to main and main to power jet. Gonna drop main to 110 and let's see how she does.

Okay. At 110 she friggin flies. Pegged speedo at 50. Sputtering sound is gone. Idle is around 1550-1650ish. Hangs slightly, pretty sure I can tune that out. So it looks like I had a series of issues that was making things ugly. Plug was too hot, needle too lean, main too rich. No signs of speckling on the plug. So my fear of detonation is allayed. Gonna hook a new temp lead up to make sure everything holds steady and no temp spikes. Gonna take er out for the 6mi torture test on way to work.

Im happy for you that its coming along. I think your last fuel modification will be a venturi divider to help smooth the flow and draw heavier vacuum in the mid throttle range. After reading up on it on richstaylordporting and making my own divider, i love the performance of 28mm OKO pwk carb....but it guzzles a lot of gas.

repherence2 Thanks, man! I certainly couldn't have done it with all of y'all helping me out along the way. Am excited to see how she runs on the distance torture test. Around town she's outrunning regular traffic from light to light. Not that I'm regularly doing that, but it's Myrtle Beach in the summer, and there's a lotta folks who don't know their way around. Sometimes speeding up to get away from the pack is safer than slowing down. As for gas, she's going through it in this testing phase, but I expected that. Used to get 2 trips to and from work so about 70mpg with the Malossi 70cc. I am anticipating much lower fuel economy out of the 103.

Alright I lied. Still yammering on about the Adly. Working on the reed cage. Scribed outlines of stock reed cage and Glixal reed cage onto the aluminum. Won't take very long to match stock openings. The Glixal on the other hand is gonna take some doing. Also it won't leave much material at the intersection. Think I'm going to cut the stock openings first and see how it goes. I have a 2nd aluminum cage and can experiment with the Glixal openings if I'm not happy with the stock.
