I found an aircooled 117cc airsal sport cylinder for the minarelli 100cc ac Aerox/bws engine. Lets say i bought a stroker crank and fitted that cylinder to My pgo. Im pretty sure i could make it fit. Would that benefit performance vs My current 70cc sport setup?
The reason i ask is i heard ppl say that the 100cc ac aerox is sluggish and not good performance wise vs standard big bore kits. In my world a 117cc sport alu kit is better but i want to remember that ppl claim otherwise. Why is that, or did i understand something wrong?
Would love to hear facts from someone that know

The BWS100 crank will not fit a 50cc engine as the crank wheels are too large, cutting the cases to make it fit will cause holes and a paper thin case in areas..So that idea in not possible with your engine!Stick with the 70cc stuff,if you want more speed, buy a midrace or race setup..

The aerox 100 only makes 8hp. It's in a very low state of tune. The engine is the weakest link in the chain. Just look at the problems Pete has had trying to make one fast. It's so much easier to get the 50 to any sort of performance level. It was worth a try though.

I think the issue is a lack of exhaust and how many people are willing to port the 100cc cylinder.

Unless you have great fabrication skills, lots of time to machine parts. It didn't make sense. It was far easier to make a 50cc faster than the 100cc model. That's why I brought my original 50. If you wanted something with more torque, everyone just brought a runner. It was so easy to get 25hp out of those. That's one of the reasons the aerox 100 is so rare.

Cause while they are small in numbers in europe they are big in production numbers in taiwan and japan markets. Even 2 versions of the 100cc exist. The 4vp and the 5wf? (I may be getting the name wrong) I just wish a sweet cylinder from say 2 fast at 56mm would be an awesome cylinder for the engine. I'd love a runner as well, but sadly we never got them in the states

The aerox is such a great bike. It really deserved a better engine. It's a shame Yamaha never upgraded it. I guess from a Yamaha perspective. It was a shopping, city bike. They had The DT125, and TZR125, if you wanted a more powerful, sportier ride. The BWS100 seemed to be a reasonable seller in other markets too.

I love how robust the bws 50 and 100 are, absolute tanks of a scooter with all the abuse they can handle. I just wish they kept making them as a 2 stroke.

Loved my BWS. Great bike to ride. It's been in our family now for about 14 years. My son who has it now. Says he will never sell it.
