My understanding is that's just how it goes with mobile for now. I looked on the proboards support forum, but the posts I read said you have to switch to desktop mode.
This is proboards v5. They have teased v6 redesigned to be great for mobile since 2016. They're finally doing beta testing now.

I just tried Tapatalk this week. It’s ok. Neither tapatalk or the main page seem to always get the new post notifications correct. Folders I have bookmarked don’t always show up as new posts and I click on recent activity to find them. If I made a list of things to fix I’d sound like I don’t like it here, but I do.

This forum is very mobile friendly i have tried using the desktop mode but it still dont work for very buggy ... no biggy i guess
