I'm not sure about scooters, but I do know motorcycles. A straight drag pipe is only good at WOT (wide open throttle), hence the name "drag" pipe, from drag racing. You lose a great deal of low and especially midrange torque with them. Internal combustion engines are designed to run with a certain amount of backpressure whice drag pipes can't produce. I would not recommend it, but again...not sure about the differences between scoots and cycles.

It will be loud, draw lots of attention, and probably be very annoying. Better than no exhaust if you have no other option, but not good. Maybe you could make a lawnmower muffler work or something. Something like the top 2 models shown below can be found in a lot of hardware stores and small engine shops very cheap. One is rated 4-8HP, that's the one you'd want. www.jackssmallengines.com/bsmuf.cfm

I had drag pipes on a Sportster. HUGE mistake !! It took about 20 carb on-offs to jet right and they still didnt give as much power as a set of good baffled pipes.

hmmmm well the Briggs and stratton one seems like it might work. what do you know my local tractor supply company has them in stock 5 bucks. i wonder if it will actually work though? but any muffler is better then no muffler right?

It's gonna be loud, but not as bad as a straight pipe. Something cheap to get you by.

Just take your pipe to anyone with a MIG welder. I wont be $5 but it should be pretty cheap and you would have what is supposed to be on there without re-engineering the bike. Any muffler shop should have a MIG.

Maybe its just me but that Ruk sure sounded like it liked less backpressure with the mower muffler.?. Maybe the OEM exhaust is too restrictive in its case?
