my piston locator pin looks weird

I'm installing my first 70cc big bore kit, got from ScrappyDogScooters. The bottom locator pin looks normal, like this:


The top locator pin is different, and doesn't appear to prevent the ring from spinning:


Is that right? Should I proceed with the installation?

That looks like a manufacturing issue to me and I would contact Scrappy to see about a replacement. You need the rings to stay in place and out of the ports on a 2T.

yep you need a replacement pistion it looks like the pin was set in too deep

Thanks for the help. I sent the pictures to Scrappydogscooters and they are arranging to send a replacement piston.
