Honda Dio 1 (covid build recap)

Before the start of covid I picked up this project bike from a friend who needed $ for a trip. There are only a handful of them on Maui. I have a super Dio aka Dio 2. But always wanted a Dio 1.






I'm not a fan of naked bars so those had to go. Also wire harness was hacked to shit so I got a new one.

My friend threw in a stock headset for the bike. The bike came with mismatched wheels too. Lol

Returned my friends motor and pulled my sym motor out of my super Dio so I can daily ride this bike instead. Also sitting on some proper wheels now.








Next up fresh set of inner and outer panels and install the new wire harness.

It was a spare pipe I had. Its essentially a fancy stainless steel V8 copy. Made by Phongeer aka PG. The motor in it came off my super dio. You can read that build thread for the details.
Basically 72 Corsa stock ports, PG stock stroke stuffed crank and crankcase intake port cleaned and gasket matched ports to Corsa.

Bought a full set of panels from swap shop. They are from China so fit isn't perfect. The inners work but the outer shell of the headset wouldn't fit. And Im not gonna ziptie brand new panels. So I got another set. Until I find some OG jdm panels. Also got a new seat with some interesting English lol. "Dio Handsome"

Hows the quality on the inner panels? I have a scratched side skirt and a scratched front cowling. I'm thinking about buying them but I'm skeptical of Taiwan quality parts.

Project is coming along really nicely!

I want to say that a bit of the heat gun and some gentle molding might bring those plastics to a happy meeting place.

It's pretty good. Not same as OEM but I'm not a fan of painting inner panels. So these were the only option. Gas cap cover doesn't fit that good so I left the lock off

Bike was built last year, I'm just posting progress pics as I have time.
Some new outer panels on. These fit alot better than the first set.








Super Dio and Dio 1 together. I just need to buy some CVT parts for the af18e motor and a new keihin carb, since I stole those for the Dio 1. Lol

Found a new old stock burial pipe from Japan. Always wanted 1.

Used my GFs new IPhone to take some pics at the beach. 























Made it into a Japanese scooter magazine too.
