I’m wondering if this counts as a scooter - It’s got a variable transmission. It’s a 70’s Kawasaki frame with a 212 cc 7hp Subaru power washer engine on it. Governor removed & billet flywheel. It needs a little more work to make it street legal. Plus I need to get it registered. I’ll likely do the Vermont loophole. It’s a work in progress obviously. I’m hoping to use it to get my endorsement.   |

That would be a motorcycle, scooters have step-through frames.

I tell people it’s more power washer than anything. It can also be thought of as a large mini bike

Have you ride tested it yet?
You could have run it with the pump installed and a hyd motor and called it hydro-drive. LOL
I have an old CASE 446 with hydraulic drive.

I rode it. It pulls great. Hit close to 50 but ran out of room. (I live in an urban area) brakes need some work but it’s a blast to ride.
I could stick a 49cc plate and probably not get hassled by the fuzz. They have bigger fish to fry than to stop a middle age nerdy guy riding something that looks like it came out of a Dr. Seuss book.

My grandads DAF 33 had a variable transmission and looked nothing like a scooter,but that is one cool vehicle may be some mirrors or stickers would get you closer to scooter.

It's not a moped, either! Moped = MOtorPEDal..just putting it out there. Someone should tell our lawmakers that.  In Illinois, a moped is classified as a two-wheeled vehicle that has the following characteristics:
-Is capable of attaining a speed of between 20 mph and 30 mph within one mile
-Has with an engine that is capable of producing no more than two horsepower
-If equipped with an internal combustion engine, the displacement cannot exceed 50cc
-Doesn't require the rider to shift gears |
