hi guys,
I've got a 08 Hyosung ms3 250 I'm trying to bring back to life and I'm having an issue with it idling up around 5000 rpm. a little back ground: the original issue was the fuel tank was rusted out and it ruined the fuel pump. after getting that and the tank sorted I finally realized after a while, and spending money where I didn't need to, that the pressure regulator was a thing and was also bad. so I replaced that and boom! it started! I was thrilled for a short while as the revs slowly climbed up to 5000 rpm. I'm at a loss with this one. Im way more familiar with carbs and get a little lost with all the senors and electronics on these EFIs. could there be a faulty sensor or something? I've done the obvious and pulled the idle screw all the way back but no luck. do I need a diagnostics computer or something. I can't find any dealers around that are hyosung dealers. thanks for any advice

I really haven't worked on a scoot with efi but I'm a auto mechanic and things I'd be looking in to would be checking the coolant temp sensor and idle speed control motor/valve. I'm not even sure if they have those on scoots but I would assume they do a lot of time if it does have some kinda idle motor or valve they freeze up from sitting. Another thing to look for would be a vacuum leak spray around with carb cleaner if u hit a leak u will hear a change in the motor rpm and sound. Just dont hit the spark plug wire with the spray I've had a leaky plug wire ignite the carb spray. Is start google info about a coolant sensor idle speed control motor for that make scooter and see what info comes up from there my guess is what ever it uses for idle control is frozen or a vacuum leak assuming u have checked to make sure something like the throttle cable or throttle body isn't being held open by something. set I dont have any direct info for u but it's a place to start

hi thanks for the reply. reading through the online manual again I found this section - www.manualslib.com/manual/822560/Hyosung-Ms3-250.html?page=103#manualI see the water temp senor there. I'll go have a look at that and clean it up. I don't see anything about a idle speed control valve so I guess it doesn't have anything like that. the vacuum line all look in good shape but I'll try spraying those like you said as well thanks. looks like to test any of these sensors I need the dealer testor. any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm having a tough time understanding the manual perfectly, it might be translated poorly

If the coolant sensor is 2 wire u should be able to test it with s volt meter on ohms and just check the butterfly in the throttle body and be sure the throttle cable or butterfly isn't stuck or frozen open it should be pretty much closed at idle

If IRS is same set up the idle valve is the one on the right side let me know how many wires go to it and u can also take out the 2 bolts there should be a plunger u can try cleaning the plunger and seat there should be no carbon there also clean the throttle butterfly while ur there use throttle body spray not carb spray sometimes they have a coating on the butterfly and carb cleaner removes it

If theres two wires going to it u can apply power and ground the plunger should move one way and if u reverse and put power to the opposite terminal it should move the other way but do it with it installed sometimes if u do it with the valve out the plunger will pop out. if theres more than 2 wires u can not do that test

Also any electrical sensor can be tested with a standard multimeter all the dealer scan tool is doing is giving u codes to which system might be having a fault and displaying what ur going to see on the multimeter as either a percentage or a voltage reading it just makes it easier and u would need a good understanding of electric wiring diagram and electrical systems to be able to do it
