Well, 'kits and performance exhaust' is a different story, and the engineers that designed the pair system did not and could not know what you did to their original design. I have yet to remove one. You get backfire from unburned fuel being dumped into the exhaust that ends up being ignited by glowing particles, or something else. You don't really want unburned fuel to be passed through the chamber and fed to the exhaust. Could be you have the carb idle/throttle plate settings a bit too rich, or the throttle place is allowing raw fuel to be pulled through the main jet/pilot/??? due to high vacuum and loose tolerances(?). Not my deal. Do what you want. My general thought is that you get backfire when something is mal-adjusted, or something. The Pulse Air system is just trying to avoid dumping HC into the atmosphere. tom

When u install kits u really don't want them running lean they already come lean stock from the factory and certainly do not want it lean with a bbk install
