Hi I was told to start a build thread I have a PGO Metro 50cc, it's actually some sort of rare quebec city edition that everyone really hated. I think from 2007? Anyway I bought it used.
I got it at 7500km and it now has 17000km. I've had it about 4-5 years I think.
It goes into storage every winter at the scooter shop but I don't think they tend the battery or anything I think they just recharge it at the end. ah well
I have no where to put it so it sits out in the rain whenever..I have repainted the exhast a few times but sort of gave up recently. She's rusty. Rims are a bit rusty too.
I painted it with plastidip.
I bought it a luggage rack, essential to my camping trips I used to take it on.
These are the extend of the modifications it's had. I will post repair history below in a comment..and current issues.
Oh and she's painted like the Nomad skin in Mass Effect Andromedia... seen here in front of EA's offices where all the magic happened on the game

Repairs it's had done:
Something weird with the spinning thing for the gear switcher? It would lose speed at higher speeds. Guy at the scooter shop said he'd never seen it before and they had to repair the rubber things inside it or something? Hasn't happened since
The spedometer used to break ALL THE TIME it hasnt in the last two years, thats nice
Front brake replaced this year
Got hit by a car, lost the back lights (beside the licence plate) but they rewired to the ones in the body (why was there two sets of rear lights idk)
The kick start is pretty mangled it doesnt work great and therefore I don'[t use it anymore.
The airbox is also pretty mangled, I think the scooter shop might have used powertools on the screws or put the wrong screws in as the housing for the screws is cracking and one is missing all together. I glued up the hole with contact cement but prob should get a new airbox -_-
Recently she won't start often, and very rarely when driving, feels like its losing fuel (engine starts to die when opening the throttle, wont seem to go over 30. Othertimes...totally fine, goes fast)
here's what I tried so far:
- I replaced the spark plug (the first step in my mechanical journey last year-replacing my own spark plug lol) and it sparks when holding it against the engine thing
- I replaced the battery
- I sprayed carb cleaner in the airbox as suggested by youtube. IT STARTS, it will start every time I do that. I fear this is not good for the scooter.
Going to try:
- replacing the fuel filter
- figuring out how to clean a carb..or just take it to the damn shop and have them do it

The part where you mentioned it lugging sometimes sounds like a fuel issue or dirty carb. Fuel filter is an easy change, just a couple clips. Check for a manual on your scooter. It serves as a great road map for any repairs or work you want to do. Manuals library www.49ccscoot.com/manuals/manuals.htmlAlso spraying cleaner in the carb to get it to start has same effect as using starter fluid. Also points to a fuel delivery issue. |

Nice to see a build thread,the rain won,t hurt much but a cover would be recommended.it,s patina not rust and highly prized in my garage  it needs some TLC,so split the jobs into three areas,engine,CVT,running gear.your current problems are probably engine based,so you need to check the reed valve,carb and air box are all in good condition and clean,watch the tutorials via the directory icon on the left of this screen. Just ask if you struggle. Geoff |

Update between the evening of Oct 2nd to the morning of Oct 4th this has been STOLEN. Police report was filed this morning. Under the black paint the body is white (teal parts are original teal) Please bring my baby back  |

She's come home!
Was around the corner in some bushes.
Downside ignition is punched out.. and parts are rare and backordered right now.
But at least I got it back
