Hi all,
I recently picked up a bit of a run down Vmoto 50cc scooter. I believe you guys call them a Keeway in the States. I've always liked 2-strokes, so figured it would be a fun project to pull the bike down and get it running a bit better. I haven't messed around with scooters before, so I am sure this forum will be a great resource.
So far I have the motor out of the bike and have begun tear down. Already I have discovered that the carby is full of muck, the rollers have worn significant flat spots, and the barrel had some marks/chipping on the port edges. The crank case had quite a lot of oil in it (which makes me think the oil pump was faulty), with the crank seal on the variator side leaking, and the crank did not spin smoothly.
My plan is to fit a 70cc kit, a full circle crank, an expansion pipe, delete the oil pump, upgrade the drive belt, and play around with jetting and rollers. Well, those are the initial plans. I've ordered a Malossi sport 70cc kit, a Malossi full circle crank, a Yasuni R pipe, some rollers, a jet kit, bearings and seals, and a Malossi belt. I'll also replace things like fuel lines, add a fuel valve and filter.
Photos incoming.
Cheers

Hi all,
First question.... On the bike there is some sort of three way fuel valve between the tank and carb. Not entirely sure the purpose of this is, but wondered if it can be deleted without issue?
I should specify, the bike is a vmoto jx50.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. That sounds like the usual vacuum petcock. If you suck the vacuum pipe, fuel should flow out the other pipe. If it is not leaking, and working correctly I would just leave it. The other option is to fit a line you can turn off. But the only thing stopping the bike filling with fuel is the needle valve in the carb.

Bit of an update....
Engine is back together and in the frame. Cleaned up the cases and port-matched. I wasn't planning on it with the sport kit, but the ports were so far off I couldn't leave it. Everything is nicely matched now and smoothed. Fitted new bearings, seals and a Malossi full circle crank. Motor is back in the frame, just giving the carb a once over, and am changing the jetting before fitting a few other bits and attempting start up.
So far I have also removed the electric start entirely, deleted the oil pump in favour of pre-mix. I also ended up going with a yasuni z pipe. I've fitted 5.5 gram rollers and will fit some stiffer springs.
Cheers

Going well. Yasuni make some great exhausts. I have the chrome Z on my work scooter.
