Why do you love your scooter?
For me it’s because it’s the first thing I’ve done in many years that was selfish. It’s not practical, I can’t carry a passenger and I can’t use it in every weather. But it’s for me. I had my first child 28 years ago when I was 21. Cycles and car seats don’t go together so that idea was shelved. I never really lost the desire for freedom though. Life changes and four children later I found myself in a position to be able to do a thing for myself with no other party telling me NO. It was a good choice strictly by luck. A Chinese 2t with 12” wheels. Shortly after purchase I found 49ccscoot on YouTube then joined the board.
I’m 13 months into my scoot journey and I love it.

The love for my scooter is deeply psychological. I undercompensate

you can start riding a 50cc at 16 and I was lucky enough to get a new Yamaha slider the day I turned 16. We’d ride them from midday to midnight until it got stolen and since then have always been hooked on bikes.. 20 odd years later, I had a dream that I still had the slider. one of those dreams where when you wake up you think it’s real for a second or two,I had to go out I buy a scooter! It was as fun as I’d remembered

I've ridden motorcycles for over 40 years. All kinds but I always favored smaller ones, they were just more fun.
So of course scooters appealed to me and that's what I've been riding for the last 15 years with a couple more motorcycles thrown in the mix.
I'm becoming more of a minimalist and scooters (and bicycles) are a perfect fit. I grocery shop, run errands, and ride for pure enjoyment every chance I get. It's an exercise in freedom for me, just can't beat the endless possibilities and the wind in your face.
Now that I'm back in New Mexico I'm rockin' that 49cc's for all it is worth. No tags, no insurance, 100 mpg and 40 mph tearing through the streets of Albuquerque.
What's not to love?

Small scooters in general have always been fun to me because you can transform their performance with a small investment. If you've got a 139QMB and want to try the cheapest big bore kits, you can pick up 5-10MPH and lots of acceleration for what it costs to run a car through a full service car wash. If you want to put more money in, you can make the performance almost unbelievably different with some small scoots. My 2T started out holding up traffic on takeoff and now I have to make sure it doesn't flip itself over if I want to take off full throttle. I don't think there's anything else like that.

I love my scooters because they are surprisingly fast for what they are, and for the hidden gems in the US market like my Super 9, or SR50's... Heck driving home with my dads s9 on the trailer someone thought that it was a vespa, and someone else asked what kind of scooter it was. Cheap too, affordable to buy into even if its the high end scooters. no registration, or insurance required in my state. Scooters have a nice community on this forum and its also a hobby I enjoy with my father which is a definite plus.

I’ve always wanted a scooter since I was able to drive, but went with a car since it wouldn’t be a practical option for me. Now that I finally was given the opportunity to get one, I had to get one and I haven’t regretted the purchase, yet 😂
I love it because it gives me something mechanical to tinker with/modify that isn’t my car. If I break it, or it doesn’t work, it’s not too big of a deal since it’s not my main form of transport.

I don't love all of my scooters. The ones I do love are the ones that came to me in need of love. They would respond well to every little fix I did. Their carbs tuned in easily, the CVT's told me what they wanted and needed. They would then reward me with hours of care free riding. They were such good ergonomic fits it's like the transformed themselves into that perfect ride. The ones that have broken my heart are the ones that no matter what I do they just fight me. It takes months of tinkering to get them running and then they are so uncomfortable that I feel like they just want to get away from me. Those get sold.
I am a project person and I found scooters are much better projects then people. Working on and riding scooters is much more rewarding.

I loved my first aerox. Started regretting selling it nearly straight away. Brought it new, and made it mild to wild. But needed something I could do at least 80mph and would do it for long periods of time. So let it go. My wife didn't like how much money I put into it. And it became too much for city riding when we moved here. But twisty county roads, leaning right over, and harassing motorcycles never got old. So when I had the chance I brought a new shape aerox. The best I could find. It's a lot different to the old one. But I will never sell it. I still keep a look out in case HY08CYT comes up for sale again. Old it New

I beat the oil man . I have date nights with my wife on our matching scooters . Making them faster with my son is great bonding time . Brings out that kid in me that used to hop up snowmobiles in my grandfathers dealership.

When I saw the comedy, Roman Holiday I was fascinated by the cute little machine that carried the groom, and his bride to b thru the streets of 1950"s Rome.
I said "I can do this." Chose a scooter, because I didn't want the expense of a car. I missed living on the edge of town near work, where I can commute and enjoy rides in the country. Now I'm living Downtown enjoying the romance of riding the city streets on my Italian made, Vespa. I take the bus to work.
Thanks Cap for an insightful question.

Good question Captin.Let yer unka jstich tell you of my (boring)2 wheeler history. A buddy in the trailer court had a moped. The ped part worked but not the mo part. Then 2 friends got an RM 80 2T and a Cr 250 Honda.Neither were street legal. We'd have a joint and beer and ride to the 7-11 and play Asteroids deluxe et al.Oh! And to up the dumbassedness we'd bait cops into chasing us .We always losed em.Just stupid.FF to 2015 in Fargo Mom (RIP) offered to buy me a bicycle.I said even better I could put in some money and get a scooter. She just simply bought me my Dykon for 700 clams. That first ride was just awesome.I put about 8000 miles on it before some pos stole it.After that I was wondering how to get another another scoot and my 3 sisters and 1 brother got money together to get me my Tao Tao I have today. And thank god I don't smoke or drink before I ride.

It gives me a feeling of freedom and excitement at the same time. When the wind is blowing in your face while riding a scooter is a unique feeling. This is the best way to travel in a city as well, in my opinion. This is the by far the fastest way, especially during the pick time, when there are a lot of traffic jams on the streets. A big factor also is the mobility which it offers to you, you can go with it everywhere. I got this love for the e-scooters when I was in Amsterdam. I read all the information in this guide from riderly.com, and my trip was insanely good, way better than walking by foot or traveling with a car.
