The problem is with the acceleration. It bogs down when I twist the grip, asking for more speed. At times, uphill, it will bog down, entirely. Is this something that is related to the gas flow, or the signal it receives from the sensor that should tell it to increase its speed? Obviously, I am not a mechanic, but these are the two options I was told are most likely. Any ideas about the situation will be greatly appreciated. Ozarkred

I had that problem with my Eton Beamer 2t. Replacing the $3 fuel filter solved the problem. I'm not a mech, either. But the first thing I'd do is check the air filter and replace the fuel filter. Good luck.

Is you scooter stock? If not what modifications have been done? Has it always been like this, or just started?

Sounding like a fuel issue clogged filter restricted jets possibly a petcock problem or a a restricted Air filter

Could be a fuel flow problem, but could also be an accelerator pump problem. Most carbs have a tiny pump that squirts a jot of liquid fuel directly into the carburetor when the throttle is opened by twisting the control. If that pump is failed, or the inlet plugged, or the outlet plugged, you may not get that bit of fuel. The fuel helps overcome the lean condition created when the throttle is opened quickly. The airflow will just jet right into the engine as the plate opens, but the fuel, being more dense, will take a bit of time to 'catch up'. Add a squirt of fuel, and you don't get the lean stumble. You can see if it works by looking down the air inlet on the carb while rotating the throttle. You should see a squirt of fuel on every twist, well until you squirt faster than the pump can refill from the float bowl. tom

Guys, Here are the things I know. It ran fine until earlier this year. It has a new gas filter, the carb has not been cleaned, right now it will turn over great, but not start, after dying about 1/10 of a mile from my house, on the last ride. Total miles, 900, slightly over. Am I discouraged? You bet.

Were I mucking with it, the carb would be out on the bench. The float bowl removed. Both main and pilot jets removed for cleaning/inspection. The two ports in the float bowl poked with a bread tie wire - accelerator pump inlet and byvalve well inlet. The idle mixture adjustement screw would be turned completely closed, counting turns(AND REMEMBERING), and then removed and inspected. The jets and idle port would be douched with carb cleaner until I was sure there was no blockage, and the float and float valve needle removed, and that port checked for cleanliness and sticking of the needle. I would also check the pilot and main jets, along with the tiny holes in the emulsion tubes attached. Be sure you can blow through or see light through the pilot jet(difficle). If not, one bristle of a wire brush can be poked into the jet, until you can see light. The idle outlet in the venturi can be reverse-flushed by using some spray cleaner via the 'straw' that is semi-sealed using a finger to hold the straw against the tiny port. IF carb cleaner comes out the adjustment screw hole, it is likely clear. PBT. Install. Put suction on the vacuum petcock dianphragm. Let fuel fill the float bowl. You can check by opening the float drain valve, on the float or at the end of an armored (spring looking covering) float drain hose. Ypu should get fuel by opening the valve. Crank and hope it works. Also be sure the plunger in the venturi that is opened by the top diaprhagm moves freely. tom
