Hi guys, longtime little bike fan.
I have a bunch of vintage 2 strokes, mainly Yamaha RD models but have three small Yamaha two strokes, two of which are running and need tires badly. Now, to be honest, only one is 50cc so I hope that's okay.
I'd been searching on Treatland for over a year because they listed some sweet Michelin tires for the MB5, which have the exact sizes that are on my '69 Yamaha HS-1, a really cool old 2 stroke, the smallest twin cylinder street bike ever made IIRC (90cc). They listed them but were shown out of stock since the Pandemic. Now I can't even find them being listed.
I also have a '75 RD125 twin which has basically tall wheel scooter/moped sized rims and tire sizes: I can find the 90/90 rear but cannot find ANYWHERE an 80/100-18 front. If anyone knows where I might find one please let me know.
The sooner I can get tires on these, the sooner I can concentrate of hopefully bringing back to life my YSR50.
I have spent countless hours going through numerous websites. They'll first ask you to put in the height, then aspect ratio, then rim size, and once you do, they'll display something that doesn't fit it. UGH!!

I think 3.00-18 tires should be very close in size, and those do come up in searches for me. 80/100-18 seems to be common enough in India, but I don't know how hard it would be to order. 90/90-18 should also be very close, just 10mm wider. I've got a tire calculator here for metric tires so you can compare diameter and circumference. www.49ccscoot.com/calculators.html

Here in the UK eBay list a good few 80 100 18 in various guises, can I sheepishly suggest you search for tyres not tires, shipping is a problem to the USA but that can be overcome using paypal.

Thanks guys! I finally got a reply from Treatland that they have the MB5 tires that will fit my HS1 but I will check EbayUK for the RD125 tires. There is a pretty active Moped bunch in the Portland area and the last time I went on an annual 2-stroke ride there were some radically enhanced Mopeds that could do 60-70mph. The problem was their gas mileage with the tiny moped tanks left them a range of about 15-20 miles LOL!

In Japan now and the bike shop says the Bridgestone and Dunlop tires are available to order here.
Going to ask them to order the tires in the next few days and see if they are REALLY available or back ordered.
Will post when I ACTUALLY get them.
If so, maybe order from a shop here.

Quicklimegirl, Welcome! There a little flexability on up sizing tires, for future reference. We cannot help those across the pond who do not know how to spell tires, but using their spelling is nessary if ordering from there. However, they deserve respect for knowing the the correct spelling of aluminium.

Just good fun. American English vs. United kingdom English is an ongoing topic.
