I like to kick my bike over with the foot pedal and do about 90% of the time. If Im off the center-satnd, I have to use the electric starter. On the rare times bike is requiring lots of kicks to get it going, the next time I do use the electric starter, there almost always is a horrific, metal-on-metal, GRRRRRNKLUNK sound. It starts, but that sound is bad. Why is this happening ? The teeth on the starter get misaligned by the kick ?? thanks in advance . . .

Could just be the bushing is worn/cracked etc.... That small piece of rubber is a common problem. The bendix is not fully extending causing the grinding noise. FYI your better off using the electric start. The kick is for emergency use only. Over use leads to your exact problem. The teeth maybe worn as a result but, I still think it might just be a worn bushing. Others will have better advice for sure. Good luck and ride safe!!!

Thank you, Bong . . . Simple solution ! Just dont use the kicker !! Doh
The starter seems sort of chintzy and weak, but I'll take that over metal shavings, any day ! :thumb:
Thanks again . . .
