Hey all.
I've got pretty much everything for my 94cc Testa build in the mail. Doing it on the stock cases (bugeye) to keep it pure Zuma, a personal idealist goal of trying to avoid a block swap.
Looking to using a 33mm PWK. Usually it's way cheaper to get a genuine Keihin off a used bike, if you can figure out what bike came with which carb.
28mm Keihin PWKs are on a lot of the 85cc bikes. I believe Malossi uses a 28mm VHST with the rc1 kit, but I'd like something bigger. But what I'm seeing is carb sizes jumping way up to 36-38 even on 125s. It's possible I need to look at quads.
Does anybody know if there's a 2t bike or quad that came OE with a Keihin 33-34 PWK? Heck, even a 30, I'm not sure they made/make one though. 32-34mm is ideal.
Thanks!

I'm reading that the 1999 and 2000 cr250 had the PWK 38 Air Striker

I came up with the Yamaha YZF450, Honda TRX450R, Honda TRX450ER. All using the Keihin 33mm.

Aprilia RS125, Honda NSR125, Cagiva Mito and all other cagiva 125cc models. Yamaha RD350, Suzuki RG250. Have a look at the Jolly moto 125cc line up and theres a whole list of small 2t bikes which have carbs in the 30-35mm size range.

That's rad, thanks you much. No luck with the other leads so far. There's a site with 30mm Lectrons on sale, but still way more than I want to pay. But dang that's tempting.

Have you come across any successful installs of the Lectron on a scooter? My scope is limited, but I know Brent has had struggles with his. Also I saw ScooterSwapShop boasting they were carrying Lectron carbs, but that kinda died out. Last I saw they were messing with some SmartCarbs instead.

I have not seen them on scoots, but I hadn't foreseen a problem until you mentioned it. What kind of problems has Brent had?
I have no idea what SSS is up to with Smart Carbs other than they're newer and even easier to tune. But they're also $$$. I don't know what the margins are, maybe it's a better deal for the shop to sell. Maybe supply chain. Who knows.
I wouldn't have even considered a Lectron except the sale. But I've been thinking I might just go with a 28mm PWK to start, and see what I think. It's a reasonable, inexpensive baseline and generally smaller is easier to tune. So. I can get a 33 if I feel like I'm missing something higher in the powerband down the road.

Well, then, let me solicit feedback then.
What would y'all do? 33 or 28?
Saw a Rc-one do something like 33hp at the wheel with the 28mm VHST the kit comes with on YouTube, but who knows how generous that Dyno is. Guy was with Jean, so they'd want to look good.
For moving 94cc that's got more than enough power down low, it just makes sense to me to be more in the low 30 range for carb size. 94cc at ~10k rpm is moving a lot of air/fuel.
But I'm curious what y'all think.

I just keep scratching my head that I haven't come across a successful scooter lectron build, but it seems the are a few smartcarbs out there. All that to say, I think you're likely to be more happy staying the pwk route and ignoring the allure of any Lectron sale.

Well, Smart Carb makes a 26 and a 28 but not a 30. So the smaller sizes may have something to do with it. I don't know Ryan OTT's problems with the Lectron, but I can't help but wonder if his setup draws enough to be consistent with the metering rod. But that's another thread I'm sure exists, and he's probably already thought of that and every other logical thing.
I guess I'm now asking myself whether to go 28 or 33 PWK. A new 33 is 200, a NOS 28 is 100. Both options more than 100 cheaper than the Lectron on sale.
I've been second guessing myself with the thought I should at least break-in with a 28.
I've never heard anyone have weird issues with a Keihin PWK, so I'm kinda put off the idea of a Lectron altogether now.

The Aprilia RS 125's were making well over 30hp with a Dellorto 28mm. And Brent has the Dellorto 26mm on T2 with the TPR cylinder. He could never get the Lectron to run right. Not through lack of trying. But likes the way the 26mm runs. Think he is going to burn up a cylinder again try the Lectron again at some point.

Thanks bud, that's radical food for thought. I'm gonna order a 28mm.

28mm carb got here today, went with a new OEM one for a kx85/100, $150 shipped. Can confirm it's legit.
Comes jetted with a 138 mj, 45 pj, an OE "NAPF" multi taper needle that'll be the first thing switched out, and the slide is a 3.5.
I might leave 45pj and put in a 145mj to start. That's wayyyy down the line, haha. I'll see what the stock needle is if bought new and start there.
Still probably going bigger in the future, but ease of tuning seems like a good place to start when getting a feel for it. Guess I should start a build thread.
