Hi, I've picked up a roughhouse 50 in good condition with the exception of the exhaust the honeycomb/catalyst inside has broken up. My question is can I whip the end off the exaust, remove the broken pieces and weld it back up. Will this cause it to run lean or will the remaining back pressure be enough.

Sure, hack that pipe apart and get it cleaned out!It may need a slight upjet,it should be happier without that crap in there...

The stock pipe is terrible . Ripping the guts out might improve it . You probably also want to clamp up the air intake into the pipe that feeds the catalytic converter other wise you will have fresh air pumping into the exhaust pipe just inches from the cylinder opening.
