Haven't heard of them breaking. It would just be nice if they were all 16mm and all 12mm wrist pins. It would make life easier. Was your's a 10mm or 12mm pin? I'm wondering if all 16mm splines may be 12mm gudgeon pins and all 13mm splines would be 10mm? I know the Yamahas are 13mm and 10mm, so maybe there are just the 2 classes of true clones and modded clones. It may be wishful thinking but that would make checking sizes for big bore kits so much easier.

I think your on to something there Brent cause mine is a 10rod and 13shaft. Good catch, now if it is that way for all of em we will know what to check when buying a used scoot, or like you said bb kits or whatever. I really dont see any reason to shy away from a 10mm rod end and a 13mm shaft but bigger to me means more security and less chance of parts failing. I guess if i built a 13,000rpm screamer i would want the bigger of the two . What year is the Beamer?

Is that an after market vari on it? If so will ya ask if he gained anything from it? The black didnt help to keep it cool did it?

lol It is an aftermarket vari. I don't think he can tell ya if it helped. He didn't even know it was on there. He took it to a shop and they installed it with the 70cc kit and pipe so it all happened at once.
10/13 is fine. There are more kits out for those. It would just be cool to pop the cover and check in 10 mins rather than pulling the top of the engine off.

Right, i was telling uncle what you might have come across, he said "aahh, good find". I told him i couldnt believe i didnt think of that lol. Thats why this place is great. I hope they are all like that, so much easier to tell. Im starting to think uncle wants a Minarelli based scooter. He likes the Cobra and its and good one but its hard to find parts for, and they only offer like 3 or 4 bb kits(no polini) that i have found. He would want to keep the Cobra though for sure.

I've never heard anyone else say that, but the splines for the vari, the stator side that varies in size, and the wrist pin are all part of the crank. Granted, it's 3 pieces so they could add a larger conrod. I just have a feeling there are pretty much 2 crank types, jog and upgraded larger. I got a call that another guy want's a big bore kit. I'm gonna try checking just his splines unless I find info to disprove my theory.

The owner of the Eton dropped off parts to me today so I got him fixed up. I took it for a test drive. Since the radar is still right next to my house, I took it there. 43MPH in roughly 3/4 mile. To be fair though, it was topped out in 1/4 mile or less. I wasn't tucked or anything either. He said he thinks he could give me a good race when it's running right. I'll gladly race again, but I expect the same outcome. I think the fellow that wants a big bore kit is going to be real pleased. From what I've seen, he might even beat the piped, kitted, scooter that is the fastest of the group.
So far the 150cc GY6s, the 49cc 2 stroke, the 70cc 2 stroke, and the 72cc 4 stroke scooters have all left me wanting to go home and get on my scoot.

Advise them to get a used Derbi. I've been running mine to a job 34 miles away for a week now. There may be one steep hill that pulls it barely under 50. It's about a 40 minute ride. After 5 days I think I was passed maybe 8 times altogether. Eight miles of that 34 miles is on a U.S. highway. ;D
P.S.
I weigh over 200 lbs.

I don't try much any more to see how fast it will run. I'm just happy to be able to cruise at around 55. I burn about 1.2 gallons of gas on this ride (round trip). That's almost 57 mpg of regular gas. I use cheap mineral (Havoline) oil @32:1. $2.99 a qt. @ Fred's. My crazy tach wakes up on rare occasions. I ride in the mid tens. These Piaggio's are tough. Some day I hope to buy or build me a better "fat" pipe. Acceleration is good. To fifty in about a city block it seems.

Also, I've ordered me a leaner (w6) needle as well as a 45 idle jet to try to get the response off idle better. It's blubbery now.

My business cards are paying off to some degree. Myself and friends have given out 4-5 cards in the last week. I got one job today and finished it today from a business card. 1000 cards for $50 = $0.05 each, $0.05 x 5 cards = $0.25. 1 job for $0.25 in advertising works for me. Granted, it won't continue at that rate, but it's a nice start. Check out iPrint.com if you are looking for business cards. Mine are full color, single side, glossy, using an image/template that I uploaded. There is a 30%off promotion code (do a Google search) so it ended up under $50 shipped for 1,000 cards. The scoot I worked on today was a Yamaha Vino. The first name brand scoot I've messed with. It's a little better made in some areas, but I can't say I'm really impressed. I'd rather buy a cheaper Chinese or Taiwanese scooter and do a PDI I think. Most of the stuff would be modded if I owned it anyway.

Glad to hear the cards are getting you some work. Looks like good quality! I agree as far as some of the name brand scoots go. Have you seen how small the Honda Metro is? I see a guy one quite a bit by a local grocery store so i checked it out the other day and man they are little. Cant weigh much....hmmm, a Minerelli pumpin 10+HP hooked to a little sleepr Metro. I might have to go that route some day, that is if they outlaw our zippy 2T,s. I will just try to hide a 2T under a 4strokes hood lol. Making it quiet on the other hand.....

I never rode it, but one of Bob's friends in Chincoteague had a Honda Metro when I was there. Every retro I've been aroudn so far is tiny. I guess they aren't bad for normal sized people, but I don't fit well on them. I feel like I look like this on a retro... The first scooter I worked on was a minarelli powered retro. If it had a more stable ride, it could be awesome. I wouldn't feel safe at 50MPH on it though. 40MPH was bad enough.

LoL, good one buddy when we goin for a ride? AAwwhh now, if you had never riden a more stable scooter at speed then ya wouldnt know the diff and haul donkey on it anyway. My first fast two wheeler was a B&S powered mini bike with no suspension and hardly any brakes. We would get that thing wound up past 40 all day, but then again when your a kid you will ride anything. My scooter doesnt exactly feel stable with my crappy pogo front shocks, thats why i try to keep that end off the ground as much as possible for better ride quality.
