I'm interested to see how the 0-40 is with that Wild Lion and 6.5 gr weights. I've tried two different pipes on mine and keep going back to stock exhaust as with my commute, 0-40 is key. My '03 Zuma with a Malossi Sport cylinder and an Athena 15/50 upgear is excellent in that range, and I can get to 50 mph if I tuck lol. At that speed I'm pretty sure that's all the revs the stock crank wants to see. My vinos without gears and the wild lion break 50 mph If I Tuck I run malossi sport kit stock carb malossi variator wild lion pipe on both of those . They break 9000 rpms Zuma with gears malossi sport stock carb Wild lion was doing low 50s . it was also breaking 9000 rpms

I'm running an OEM '08 style Yamaha 3 shoe clutch with stock springs and a yellow NCY compression spring. When I tried the different pipes I experimented with variator weights but didn't touch the clutch. My tuning weight kit only has 1 gr increments so I tried alternating weights and never found a perfect combo. Frustrated, I went back to my original setup. I will search for weights in smaller increments. My setup works great but it's always fun to try to improve on things ![:)](//storage2.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

pili what pipes have you run. I have run these 3 street pipes with the Malossi Sport Kit Stage 6 Street, tecnigas silent pro, malossi wild lion Stock clutch settings were ok but stiffer clutch springs was betterin the stock clutch
I basically ran stock weights or a small adjustment.
I have paired the silent pro and wild lion with a Athena Sportkit aloso with the same stockish settings.
Expansion pipes On close to stock CVT settings Suck. The take off is terrible and it takes time to spin up into the power band so you have a lag and then about 30mph the power kicks in Medium or Hard Clutch Springs And way Lighter weights so I could get on the narrower power band.

Mix them in sequence, so 5g, 6g, 5g, 6g ect.

A couple of years ago I tried a Leo Vince non expansion pipe which had the wrong flange on it so I tried welding a flange off an OEM pipe to it. Never got it run accelerate well so I'm sorry I butchered a working stock pipe to do it. More recently I tried an Ebay Scooterworks pipe which came really close; with alternating 5 and 6 gram weights it was just a hair slower 0-40 and I'm pretty sure top end was 2 or 3 mph faster. If I try tuning the clutch it might be the answer.

Finally feel like I am getting somewhere now. Threw the oem belt back on there, and it looks much better than the polini belt did, so I'll be running with that one till I can get another oem ordered. Pic of oem belt vs polini belt rear pulley height below: ![](https://i.postimg.cc/g01LHcWM/20220509-130650.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/1Rr4frf7/Screenshot-20220509-130718-Gallery.jpg) Wanted to be able to leak check the system including the exhaust flange seal, so ended up making a makeshift plug for the end of the exhaust pipe, since the polini speed exhaust is solid/no separate silencer tube like the expansion pipes. Seemed to work fine, and held 5psi just like before. The intake side of the leak ckeck system is just a test pressure gauge ($11 at lowes) and a pvc elbow (under $1). The test pressure gauge has a schrader valve to add air. I have a air compressor tank gauge that I regulate down to 10psi, then an additional inline pressure gauge that I turn down even more, which allows air pressure to slowly increase. This is definately needed for this setup, otherwise you would be blowing out seals, etc. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/DfRgCF2b/20220508-110212.jpg) Anyways, installed the 100 main jet out of the stage6 6mm jet kit, at WOT it sputterred very bad, almost felt like hitting redline but way too early. Put on the 95, ran a bit better, but still some sputterring. Put on the 90, and it is starting to feel alright now. Checked the plug, it is still pretty dark, but this is as far as I want to go before I have a cht gauge, one is on the way.

Sounds like your getting close on the Jetting . Nice work on the leak down tester.
The OEM belts do work best on the Zuma with the After Market variators .

Still looks like you might need to shim the variator. My stock belt rides flush with the rear pulley on my 05 with malossi multivar.

Yeah, definately looks like the belt should still be riding higher in the rear pulley. How do you go about shimming the variator if the variator nut is basically flush with the end of the shaft? Does the starter gear have to be removed to add room for shims between the variator halves?

As long as you don’t get crazy you can still shim a little. I just bought a pack of different thicknesses & went at it.
