Hello everyone, finally giving up on the 2 stroke, going to get my 1st Chinese 4 stroke scooter. Looking at a few this week, probably 125cc +.
42 yrs old and I am at a age now where constantly messing with a pissed off chainsaw just isn't fun anymore. Funny thing is I have to give up my legendary Japanese quality for Chinese reliability. Lol..
Sounds backwards I know, but now just want a bike that doesn't need constantly, rings, cylinder, crank bearings, kick start, carb adjustment constantly.
Just sold my 1st bike, 90 zuma pre, had that bike since I was 13, been a awesome bike, just now finally tired and want just a push the starter and go.
Anyway just register to see what I can do with the gy6 Chinese, lots of information and been looking at everything online.
Hello everyone I am here now 😊

Like I said I know it sounds stupid, but I have 2 really good friends, both have 25k Chinese miles on their bikes with out a top end rebuild, 1 is a taotao and the other is a icebear. Other than the bikes them selves trying to fall apart, engine still kicking, that is why I am finally giving up the 2 stroke. 25k on a 2 stroke with out a top end at least I wish

I get it, but I'm older than you and still like the weed wackers! Though I have been looking at four strokes lately. 😬 The 150's are not that fast really. I would look into their performance first to make sure it will meet your expectations.

I ride with 2 150cc 4 stroke, they are consistent 50 ish mph bikes, which is fine. Getting older and although it is fun pulling the front tire and wheeling down the road while they are putting along. 😊
Nothing hits like a mild ported and set up right 70cc weed Wacker.
But the dice are cast, just finished loading up the truck with all my 2 stroke stuff. Sold the bike and everything to my local yamaha tech, known him for years, so it is going to a good home.
He got a hell of a deal, funny how empty my garage is now lol. He got 7 engine, and enough parts to build em, 10 different pipes, basically a full 2500 bed filled including the bike, all the plastics and just about everything to build the bike for another 25 yrs

Welcome! Sad to see you leaving the world of 2Ts just as we meet. I'm the same age and I'd cry myself to sleep every night in a world without two-strokes.
If the goal is to leave it alone, then I'd suggest doing just that. Aside from a PDI and keeping it well maintained, that's the road with the greatest chance of stress free ownership. If you have goals of higher speeds, see what some different options would set you back. Some of the modern 150-ish cc scoots are pretty fast. Much faster than a GY6 and with things like EFI and liquid cooling so they're really trouble free. Check out what it may cost to do what you are thinking about, and compare that to new and used scoots from big brands. Sometimes it's about the same price in the used market to grab a nice top tier scoot as it would be to go with a Chinese scoot and mods.

what about a Genuine Buddy50 or a Roughhouse50? new, modern day, 2 stroke, better quality than the Chinese stuff.

Trust me I will miss my little pissed off chainsaw. Seeing my garage empty and no scooter.
But the scooter God's have smiled on me while having my morning coffee.
All hail the mighty Facebook market place, and of course the ever present Tweaker 😊
Found a little 50cc scooter and a 150cc scooter local. Of course neither run and are of course hacked up and "modified" 😑
One has a title, of course he never signed it or filled it out, but got both for 300. So will make a build thread and show you all these 2 finely custom machines.
But should have enough good parts between the 2 to make 1 small frame scooter 😏👍

Hope you like the new bike. I will say this; I just replaced the Malossi Sport bbk after almost 20k miles. Other than regular maintenance like final drive oil and replacing the belt, and experimenting with aftermarket exhaust, I never work on it. It starts every time immediately unless it's under 20°F and even then, it only cranks for a moment. I haven't touched the carb since I put that original cylinder on. My point is if a 2T is right, it can be really dependable.

Yep, a 2t is dependable and is a great engine, been a 2t man for over 30 yrs, just now chasing speed isn't that important to me, what is important is not messing with the bike anymore.
When you and your local yamaha parts guy and a big scooter parts place are on a 1st name basis, means it is time to quit for awhile.
I ride my scooter alot, almost daily, so what I was looking at spending just for this yr on parts, and then the time to assemble and install, I can click on Amazon and have 2 or 3 gy6 delivered to my house next day. Can't beat that.
With my pissed off chainsaw, constantly watching Temps, listening and feeling what the bike is doing, instead I look over and see my 2 buddies just riding and not caring about nothing but the ride.
That is where I am at right now. After I finish this bike and ride it I may feel different and need another 2t. Maybe just a passing phase, don't know yet

On a side note, always been curious about running E85 or other blended fuel, maybe trying a fuel injection just for fun.
Have a wide band o2 sensor and more stuff to play with, 4 stroke just has more stuff to play with, cams, 4 valve heads, fuels. Long case vs short case, maybe stupid stuff fatty tires and some of the wierd mods the ruckus guys are into.
Never got to play with E85 before, so maybe fun, or I may be just trying to justify me getting rid of my bike lol
