rebuilding a 2001 powermax 50 engine VIN LL8MA1F291T161687 mfgr Jiangsu Linhai (same scoot in the powermax conversion thread earlier)
7600 miles, bought partially stripped - missing everything from throttle twistgrip to other end of cable post/housing screwing onto main carb body
plug/ reeds/ shaft/ heads of piston and cylinder have what seem normal wear and carbon buildup, compression measures low 30psi, hoping new rings will tighten things up. Strong spark grounding to frame, no sign of gasket leaks, cylinder scarring. but piston head rocks maybe half a mm = 1/32" side-to-side at top of stroke

Will rings called 'thick-version' fit original piston?
new rings are 1.5x1.75 mm, fit 40 mm bore, described here:
