Hi Everyone,
I got my first scooter from my Dad after he passed. He picked up a 2007 United Motors X-peed 50 (engine number is hyosung sf50) last year with 900 miles on it since he wasn't strong enough to handle his motorcycle. Well, I now inherited it and so far I love the little scoot. I do however want/need it to be faster as there's a couple 45mph roads on my short ride to work.
I've done the internet searching and was able to take all of the restrictors out including: snipping the rev limiter wire on the ECU, removing the washer in the variator, and pulling out the intake restrictor plate. After doing that it wouldn't rev at all without leaning out so I ordered some main jets and did a LOT of trial and error and settled on a richer main jet. I went richer and richer until it really wouldn't clear out then jetted down so I knew I was on the edge of rich versus on the edge of being too lean. This bumped the top speed to 35 mph on the level with no wind.
Today I installed a Technigas Next R exhaust and took it for a test ride. First ride was terrible - only 20 miles per hour. I couldn't get enough rpm to get on the pipe. It also sounded way rich. I played with the jets and got it to where it will go 35 barely but if I go down a hill that lets the rpm up high enough that the pipe starts working. Speed then went to 40mph and stayed at 40 even up the next small hill. Odd that I'm back down to a 75 main jet versus 85 with the stock exhaust. Stock jet was a 60 by the way.
I know this is long winded, but I guess I'm asking what I need to get for the transmission to get my revs up sooner yet not kill top speed. I'd be happy with 40mph if I could get there quicker and still have good take off acceleration. My current rollers measure at 17mm by 12mm and weigh 7-ish grams. Can you help me out with what to get and where to get parts?
Mike
