03 Vino

Picked up a nice 03 Vino for my lady yesterday morning. 6500 miles & it’s in good shape. It’s been de restricted & rides nice. It needs a little more power so the plan is to slap on a 70 sport kit & run the factory pipe. Tune the cvt to match & it could use some new tires so I’ll go with a 3.5x10 which should give me a little more speed. Will that setup run 45mph? Seems to want to do around 36-38 at the moment on the flat with my 265lbs.

You can go up a size on the back tire with out firmest issues
I run a 90 90 10 Michelin s1
Your back tire will still touch ground when it is on the center stand

On the front any over size tire rubs on the shocks

36 38 sound about right for stock derestricted a 70 kit or a better pipe will put you in the 45 -50 range

Would I be better off getting a malossi sport kit for the vino or picking up a s6 street race? I have a top performance black kit on my Zuma. If the street race is an improvement over it I can put the tp on the vino & the s6 on the Zuma. If there really isn’t an improvement I’ll just pick up the malossi. Can’t say I’ll never get a pipe but a kit to me is a better 1st step. Also can’t have her smoking my Zuma lol.

I would put both the streetvrace and top performance as faster than the malossi
My wife could beat me off the line with vino vs zuma with similar malossi kits
I could beat her on top end

Is the street race faster than the top performance? Would be paired with a yasuni r & dell 17.5.

S6 street race kit came in today. It’s going on the Zuma & the top performance is going on the Vino as soon as I have some time. Will running a stock Zuma main jet be good for the kitted Vino?

The stock zuma jet is a 80 tekei the vino is a 64 teikei thta is quite a big jump
Try it and see

With stock airbox on a kitted vino I found 70 to 75 mikuni was a good range

I found the mikuni acted one jet smaller than a comparable Teikie jet
A 82 mikuni was equivalent to a 80 teike

Sounds good. I’ve got plenty of jets just needed a starting point.

I started the project tonight by removing the top performance of my Zuma & installing the street race on it. Fired right up and let it get to about 200 degrees & shut it off. I’ll let it cool off overnight & snug everything up in the morning. Then it’s ride it like you stole it lol. The street race has obviously larger ports than the top performance so hopefully it’ll be a noticeable difference. Now I just have to install the tp on the Vino.

Got the kit installed on the vino today. Turns out 80 was my smallest jet so I have it installed right now. I ordered a few smaller ones. Also installed my factory Zuma variator, 3 shoe 105mm clutch with +500 springs, & a white contra spring. Definitely a nice boost in power but I need to get the jetting worked out.

Got the 72 main jet in this morning. Installed it & took it for a cruise. Pulls way better. Didn’t have my phone with me to gps it but it’ll bury the speedo & hold speed going up hills. I’m guessing probably 45mph. I might put a wild lion on it to see if I could touch 50. We live in the country & the roads are all 55 around us.

The wild lion isn’t as available. Is the polini sport or s6 street as good?

The polini sport is the same pipe as the wild lion they are both rebadged gianelli pipes
The mounting brackets can be different the lion bolts right up

The stage 6 street is as good if not better on the top end than the lion with a wide power band

Awesome, I thought they looked the same. I’ve got one on the way. I’m assuming it’ll have a restictor in the head pipe that needs to come out?
