yesterday I had my variator, belt, rollers changed at my mates mechanic shop, bike was fine with no issues, started and rode like it did before.
next day I changed the clutch torque spring myself, took the clutch off and put the spring in for the pulley. then I went to start it with the electric starter, sounds normal, but wont actually start.
anything that I need to be checking? I looked at the variator and doesn't seem anything is wrong and the rollers are in fine. spring I changed was changed to the same brand and spring.

The spring should not cause this . The Contra spring causes the contra to hug the belt enough so it doesnt slip. If you put too tight a contra in it just wont down shift as easy .
You could Retrace your steps Put the old contra spring back in
Did you knock off a ground wire to the starter ?
Will it kick over ?

I have bumped the kill switch and spent a hour trying to track down a no start .
On my Yamaha vino the ground wire was held down by a transmisssion bolt just above the kick starter.

I doubt its a wire issue, I haven't touched any wires. the stator and all that is on the other side.

Is the starter motor connecting to the bendix or whatever gear that actually spins the engine to start it? Maybe something is out of kilter, or dirty and not engaging properly.

Maybe something is out of kilter, or dirty and not engaging properly. checked the idle/gear and it all seems to be fine. the crank/starter spins just fine, along with the belt and variator. I have checked the fuel filter what sits below the tank/vacumm tap, the filter seems completely empty?

Check to see if the vacuum pipe is damaged or pulled off the carb. If you suck on it fuel should flow freely from the tank.

The one without gas is the one you suck on coming from the petcock the fuel should pee out fast when you suck on the other tube .

The vacuum opens the fuel petcock so fuel can flow. If you suck on it and no fuel comes out. Either the fuel filter or petcock are bad.
