I would not want to see 104°C but 104°F is OK as long as you stay hydrated while out of doors. Here in Kansass most of us have air conditioning but from what I hear AC is rare in the UK. Roads do buckle and melt at high temps so watch out when riding.

temps set to hit 40c or 104f if they are right our roads will melt ! Geoff No crap! My favorite road, HWY 125, starts in Missouri and heads down into Arkansas and is our Ozarks version of the Dragon. The tar snakes get gooey and going over them at lean you can feel it give. No reason to stay home though lol.

Frankenmech is quite right about the lack of ac over here,it,s just not needed, a few commercial premises have it and portable affairs for those with the cash and inclination, the norm for cooling is a ceiling fan or free standing aero type that's wheeled out once every heatwave. Geoff

AC is near mandatory here. My central AC unit failed a few years back and I lived without it for a summer. It was hard on me at my age even with a ceiling fan and small personal fans. It is just too hot and humid here for months at a time. It is like that in many parts of the world and I just don't know how people survive. I suppose they just slow down, stay in the shade and collect as much breeze as they can. Now I have a new central AC unit and two window units for backup.
Here in Kansass everything moves at full business speed 24/7, rain, shine, snow, sleet, storms, heat, cold, -regardless. I have worked in industrial plants where employees were moving about sopping wet from sweat trying to keep their heavy pants from falling down. Tools slipping out of wet hands and rusting overnight. Equipment and work in progress rusting from sweat droplets and fingers. Management didn't seem to care about lost productivity or rework/replacement cost. No consideration is given for anything, just keeping the electric bill down and making the peons suffer...

It may be hot during the day but if the temps drop at night all is well. Kansass is going through the months, July, August, and even September, when it may not even cool down enough at night. Kansass sucks. I have lived here my entire life, I am stuck here, and I hate it.

Temperature hardly dropped last night. I have been told it's a weather front from Africa we are having so humid. It did rain but to minutes later stopped and all evaporated now. Doubt if the washing on the line is even damp 🙂

Yesterday was in the 90's and today it's 66 had to turn heater up in car as AC won't turn off at the button in the car.

Supposed to be 102°F today in my area, probably higher downtown in the concrete jungle. I have no idea what the humidity will add on to that but I figure hotter by a few degrees, maybe 105. It is still 86 outside this morning in the wee hours, will not cool down much in the evening. I doubt my AC will keep up in those conditions. I am not going outside, some unfortunate people have too...
