Hi Everyone,
New to the forum and hoping to get some advice?
I am rebuilding a 2004 Yamaha TZR, AM6, frame up resto.
all has gone well, considering I am not actually qualified for the job
regarding the engine, it wasn't in bad shape at all but I replaced the piston and rings and it ran great after that.
once I noticed the Oil pump was leaking, I replaced that too, but received a faulty unit that kept letting 2 stroke through even while the engine was off...
as a result, 2 stroke oil flooded the carb, through the intake reeds, flooded the con rod compartment, through the cylinder and into the exhaust. oil pump replaced again with working one.
I siphoned a lot of oil out of the con rod section, accessed via the reed valve intake, poured out a lot of oil from the exhaust and once I finally got it to fire again it spat oil out of the cylinder outlet (exhaust was off at this stage)
now its back together and starting fine but makes huge amounts of smoke, assuming from the oil left over that I couldn't get out without stripping the whole engine again. and possible residual oil in the exhaust.
only change to the carb was reverting back to a stock idle jet (30) from the 32 that was in there when I opened it up.
the bike is stock in all regards, 50cc stock head, piston, rings, carb, exhaust etc.
My question is, should I just let this burn off over time by running the bike or will it damage the engine?
I have run it for 30 minutes and the smoke reduced quite a bit but still smokes way more than it should.
thanks in advance everyone!
