Hey All, I have been lurking around on this forum for a while and finally decided it was time to register. Years ago I was given a 1986 Yamaha Jog CE50T. It had sat in a garage for 25-30ish years and a family at church decided it was time to get rid of it. I gladly took it and fixed it up. It had about 2200 miles on the odometer. This was the event that got me into scooters. I'd always wanted a dirt bike, but found the cost prohibitively expensive. This was a great way to have fun on two wheels that landed in my lap. Since then its gotten a new carb, K&N Fuel Filter, new fuel lines, and pump to carb oil line, K&N Air Filter, Boyesen power reeds, and a bit of fun riding. I learned the hard way that there are two minarelli vertical motors, the one I've got, and the one everyone else has in Zuma and most if not all of the clones. I will be creating a separate post asking for upgrade crankshaft advice later. I hope a moderator or someone can let me know if I posted this in the wrong place or something This forum has provided me with a lot of great info in the past, and I'm excited to finally be a part of it! -86JOG

Once you find out what fits your engine or ones like it a world of aftermarket opens up. I have a Keeway which identifies as a CPI horizontal minarelli variant.

...And yes, your post about the crank is in a good spot.

Welcome to the forum,I have a CG50 project bike, I have kept it "factory" but removed the restrictions and managed 35mph so it,s safe for my commute when I press it into service. I am curious about the CE50 which I think is very similar, they share the same workshop manual, what's your top speed?
Geoff PS just moved my Grandad jog build thread up the list for your perusal

I'd love to be able to tell you but I do not know what the top speed is yet because I haven't taken it out for anything but short fun rides around the neighborhood. I do know that most roads near me I would get run off the road at it's top speed. My plan is to do a bit of major upgrades before I can use it as a daily driver or such. I will try to find a flat paved area without other drivers where I can really get after it before I begin upgrading it...

I think that yours is an 1987, or maybe there's a late 86 model with the 87 handlebar cover. I have two 1986 yamaha jogs. the 86 and 87 have the same vertical engine though.
There's a build somewhere in the forum of someone who put a bbk thats for the vertical minarelli everyone else has in one like this. I believe it fit fine but required different a reedblock and couldnt use the stock airbox anymore.
The best way to find parts is through yahoo auctions for 27v jog (since there are over a million in Japan).

Thanks for the advice about getting parts from Japan. I might have to try that if I need stock parts for something.
Yes it is a 1986, and I think it has the Short Case Vertical Minarelli 2T if I am not mistaken. What I have been told by quality resources is that cranks, cylinders, bearings, seals, pipes (bracket might need a little redneck ingenuity) will fit. I heard the variators are different but that a transmission kit for a Zuma could be used. Might need a kicker from a Zuma and the e start might not work (not sure yet). Don't quote me on any of that please, because I haven't tried it yet. Yes the cylinders would need a new reed block, but a Stage6 Big valve kit for a Zuma should fit.
I'd like to run a Polini Corsa, 4Race Crank, Polini Bearings and Seals, Yasuni R pipe, Stage6 Big Valve Intake, VForce3 reeds, and a Dellorto Carb through a Malossi Over Range transmission kit. (Also disc brakes (at least in front) and trail tech vapor as well as suspension...)
I plan on making a post after I have built this motor, but I have a few projects in the way first. I'll let you guys know.
Happy Tinkering! -86JOG

Thats really curious! I thought the 86 was only the CE50ES version and that the CE50ET version was in 87. I guess that started in 86 too.

Yes it is. The owner's manual says CE50T on the cover, inside it says model sold: CE50T-R, year sold 1989, and copyright 1986. The vin sticker on the scooter says MFD: 11/86. Now that I am pretty sure I know what it is I think that upgrades will be a lot of fun.
