Went to my Land Rover club’s Fall Trials event today. Placed 4th out of 12. Not bad for a 26 yr old Discovery with all terrain tires. Pictures in next post after I switch to desktop mode.

Not bad! How many times did the old battered classic green and white one have to pull the others out?

The fellow who has the 109 series three door wheels hard. It’s also his daily driver. He wheels with two kids in the truck with him. He got winched twice yesterday. I got winched once. Wet leaves and peat on rocks is vicious. Great group of guys.

Wet leaves and peat on rocks is vicious. Wet leaves on a wet clay called black gumbo back home was bad enough even on a flat surface. Slippery as hell and sticky too. Vehicles sank to the axles or worse. Even trying to dig a hole in it was near impossible when wet. The damn stuff would not release from the shovel, your boots, or excavator bucket. When a person tried to walk in it the clay would build up 4 inches thick on your boots and every part of you that it touched as you slipped and fell until it weighed you down and stuck you in place. Too exhausted to move. Kind of like a bug in a spider's web.
