I have a question about these kind of starter drives: Everything seems to be working fine in both of them.. They are greased up well,, everything moves with to only slight resistance they runs smooth when activated.. When installed on the scooter,, and I use the electrical starter,, they spin fine,, but the smaller cog wheel doesnt go out to interact with the crank.. Am I missing something or what can be the problem ? It's a brand new battery,, fully charged.. Lots of power.. Spins insanely fast.. - Frederik

The bendix is probably binding for some reason still. The bearing/hole in the CVT cover could be dirty or partially blocked, or the cover itself out of alignment a little, especially if the dowel pins that help locate things correctly are missing. It would not take much at all to have things just off enough so that it is not straight enough for the gear to be able to kick out.
Also, I am not not sure if 'all greased up well' may be just enough to be too much, perhaps? Been there, done that, then compared it to a new one. It is probably fine, as long as it isn't overly packed and it can get flung into the CVT and get on your belt and pulleys.

I've also had CVT cover spacing issues cause problems with starter bendix operation. Seems like some don't care either way, but sometimes not putting a CVT cover gasket on can be enough to cause binding. I've also seen slight variations in them, maybe a little longer or shorter, and they don't want to work right and others here have reported the same trouble in the past.
