I am not sure if this is the problem but one of my scoots it is acting funny like it is stuck in low gear my guess is maybe the clutch spring is wore out I am not for sure if the clutch is working right not for sure how to tell
The old engine I had on it felt like it would change gears up and down but this one doesn't do that is there anyway to check to make sure the clutch is working properly without riding the scoot
Thanks

sounds more like the variator or torque sheave. you will have a hard time starting it with the cvt cover off if its a qmb since the cvt cover has to on for both the kickstart and electric start to work.

i usually just take all the bolts off, leaving the 2 bolts closest to the starter gear hand tight, start it, then remove those last 2 and pop the cover off

Ok I got around to doing like Ososlow suggested the belt is going up the variator about 1/4 inch from the top and the belt going up on the clutch about 1/2 inch from the top of the clutch when I rev it up almost looks like the belt is evenly on the variator and clutch.
But the clutch is working not for sure like it is suppose to
Thanks again for the help

But the clutch is working not for sure like it is suppose to The sliding parts on the clutch have probably dried out. There is a thin sleave on the back of the clutch pulley. Use a screwdriver and gently take the sleave off. Under there it needs grease. The outer pulley slides on three pins. You can pop the pins out real easy. Pull the sliding sheaves apart and grease inside. Put them back together, put pins in and grease the tracks. Pop the cover sleave on and your done. Oh clean the pulleys very well.
