Cut a cardboard template for the side skirts that will get welded to the seat pan.

I tack welded the side skirts on using a soldering gun Then I used my plastic welder to weld everything together, inside and out. I didn’t get any photos of this because I didn’t have a free hand to operate the camera. Pretty pleased with how it turned out (first real time using a plastic welding gun). Now I have to work some more with the heat gun in order to flare out the skirt to blend in with the main frame. …and hopefully nothing warped too bad.

Looks good so far. Definitely reminds me of the honda navi with the open space under the tank I had to google the Navi. The trunk in the open space is exactly what I have planned. The theory is that I can glue up and carve a wood version of the trunk and use that as a mould for shaping the same HDPE plastic.

Absolutely love when people do different things with the scoots.
Chuck bagger or mad hog, another build making a bagger out of a ruckus clone. Maybe the bike needs some bags too 😀

cops will be more of an issue than DMV. they dont give a damn if you're legal or not they want money ( 10% of cops want your safety ) and since most people just pay instead of contesting wrong ticket they make alot of money. i dont think you'll get problems for that, but its a possibility since its how it works.
also since i was in the modified car scene for a long time before, i can tell you that when asking DMV to know what is right and what is wrong, you must ask many time to get the right answer. i had to call about 30 time years ago when i had my modified truck to know that its actually legal here to change seat belt with aftermarker one ( colored ).

Old friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in years stopped for a visit this afternoon. Since my wife refused to be photographed, I asked his wife if she would model with the scooter and she agreed. She is just a titch shorter than my wife (Wife is 4’11”, the model is 4’9-3/4”). She could actually stand up flat footed straddling the scoot!

Question for the experts…. What angle is the part of the engine mounting bracket that has the arms for the bumpers supposed to be and how far away from this bracket is the stop that the bumpers bump against from the bracket? At this point, I have the brackets for the engine mount clamped into place on the frame and the scooter is suspended on a lift with the wheels just hanging.

Good question, seen so many different 150cc mount kits and they are all hard mounted, no rubber like factory. Angles are guess, slightly tilted up for oil drainage. Seen so many different angles due to stretch and lower shocks and different tires. I don't think there is a one correct angle 🤔

Yea… I stared at that for hours yesterday, trying different angles, rolling around the pros and cons of each. I think I’m going to bias it so the loop is standing up straighter (more angle) with the mount sitting closer to the carb. This will give me a level carb at ride, the most ground clearance for the motor, the most room for however I figure out to give this thing air, and still leave room for the rear fender.

The 125cc crate motor is now mounted! I have ordered a stock scooter style air intake/filter box and will wait for this to arrive and be mounted before I commit to an angle for the motor hanger bumper thingy. I do want to make this as quiet running as possible and I think the stock breather will contribute to quietness at the intake of the motor. Still up in the air a bit on how to get the least possible decibels from the exhaust. While I wait for the breather box, I will work on the right side swing arm. It really needs the second shock as I can now make it bottom out by just bouncing a little bit while sitting on it. Also, now that I have a firm establishment of the space the engine needs, I can now work on building an electrical area under the seat. I’m going to make it out of the HDPE plastic I used for the seat pan. This area will house the battery, fuse panel, a bank of relays, CDI, reg/rec, starter solenoid, flasher, and probably a buss bar. One more little thing I just added that can be seen in this photo… front side marker light just behind the headlight. I’ll also incorporate the same light in red at the rear. I thought this would be an upgrade from the typical reflectors.
