Here in the UK you have to have a separate red reflector in case of power failure Geoff same here in canada. yellow front, red rear. they would pass inspection with warning at worse, but if a cop see you with a reflector missing you have a ticket. well not really a ticket per say but it work like this : first time - warning 72h ( first time they warn you, then you have 72h to fix . same paper as a ticket with different ckecks ) second time - warning 48h ( another warning after the first, shorter time, you have 48h to fix. same paper as a ticket with different ckecks ) third time - ticket ( $$$ ) forth time - INSPECTION. if its a car/motorcycle/truck/semi truck, you can go with your vehicle. if its a scooter, its towed right away ). but anyway. we can put leds, but the reflector MUST be there. they hate the replacement reflector that include a led so much its giving them headheach. its legal and illegal at the same time. and ADDED lighting doesnt have to be working. only original lighting must be working ( or replaced by something doing the same job, but must be working )

They do make carb lvl spacers and clocking for the carbs because of some of the mount angles. Your cnc should have no problem whipping up a correct spacer for the carb no matter what angle you decide to mount your engine.
Good ideas for the design can be found on rolling wrench website or ruck house. General Google search gy6 clocking flange or ruckus clocking

Well, I had to know the real answer…. Found it here… www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2004-title49-vol5/xml/CFR-2004-title49-vol5-sec571-108.xml If you are having trouble sleeping, read the above linked document regarding motor vehicle lighting and safety marking regulations in the USA. One take-away from reading this document (yes, I read the whole thing) is that a very high percentage of imported scooters are not meeting a good share of the requirements set forward. Specifically regarding to lumens, chemical/UV/dust resistance, and serviceability. In fact, I can think of a number of automobiles which fail some of the layout guidelines. Anyway, matter at hand…. Here’s a few tables from the appendix of the document that lay things out in a more easily digestible form.

its probably the same story here ( stock vehicle in the market vs modification/inspection ). here, the law is extremly clear : there must be 2 inch between bumper/diffuser and exhaust tip. 80% of stock vehicle on the stealership floor are illegal ( they barely have 1 inch spacing ). here, every motorcycle allowed on public road MUST have rear suspenssion. i remember indian and harley each have a model sold here that have NONE ( chopper style ). here, the law is clear once again, turn signals must be 16 inch apart ?? my stock setup is illegal then. my brother 100% stock 2009 vino is illegal. my uncle ninja 650 is illegal. they're all illegal. i found this one on my phone so here it is ( in french ) technically, stock plate lighting is illegal on most vehicle. it must be WHITE. but its yellow ( halogen nature ). and since there can be misinterpretation, its not the projected light color that must be white but the color of the bulb when on. thats part of the reason we see people with colored headlight NEVER getting pulled over even right in front of cops : put a white paper in front of the light and if its white its legal if its colored its not. and since most colored HIF bulb are white on the paper but diffuse colored light they're LEGAL. my truck passed inspection twice with 30000k hid ( green ) because of that and they use the white paper for this test. one thing, it says on your image REQUIRED equipment and also says side marker LAMP. so 90.0% of car truck and trailer are illegal ? or they just don't know what a LAMP is

Fenders split and welded so now I have rolled edge on both sides! Thinking really hard about adding crash bars to the front of the frame. It would give me a place to add some “highway pegs” so I could ride it without my knees hitting the handlebars and looking like a big ogre on a little bike.

Looks great 👍
Definitely not looking like a scooter anymore. 😀
Making me want to bust out the welder and do something crazy to my bike 😆

Don’t want to discourage anyone from getting out their welder, just be careful. Whilst welding my fenders, I accidentally welded my finger. I was not wearing gloves and a piece of slag fell, hit my wedding ring and welded itself to the ring. It was only about the size of a BB but it turned my wedding band into a heat sink and, in turn, my finger became a secondary heat sink. Aren’t thermodynamics just fascinating? Anyway, please learn from my failure to head proper safety protocols.

Here’s a frugal tip for builders who do not have a pipe bender in their tool arsenal. Discarded metal frame furniture is an excellent source for free and pre-bent tubing of all shapes and sizes. I have a couple friends in the scrap metal trades and can usually find just the right size pipe with just the right angle bend. The rear loop-de-doop I added to the frame early in this build came from an old porch swing. Not really sure what this thing was as it was already disassembled but I saw the size of the pipe (1-1/4”) and the nice 90 degree bends and I saw crash bars. I sawed them free from their former life and have begun cleanup for their new life on the scooter. I’ve been on the hunt for something similar in 1” tube. The rear of the seat frame remains unfinished as it needs to have a bar around the back with a tighter radius than the conduit bender is capable of doing. Something will turn up and it will probably come from an ugly chair.

Early in this project, I purchased a right side swing arm so that I would be able to run dual shocks in the rear. Not knowing what this crate motor was built for, only knowing it is a short case, I bought a swing arm for a 50cc Tao Tao Racer. It didn’t fit. Knowing I would never be able to spec the proper fitting part, I did what everyone does these days, I did not return it and give the seller a negative review, rather I cut it up and rewelded it for a perfect fit! A couple years ago, I developed Essential Tremors. It’s a neurological thing I inherited from my mother that causes shakes in my arms and hands. Because of this my welding is not what it used to be. But, luckily, I am still the world’s OK-est with an angle grinder. To prove that I still have my angle grinder chops, I carved this horse for my daughter. It’s made from glued up construction lumber and carved with mostly sanding flap discs.
