damn the work on those legs... your weld is already 100 time better than the stock welds. knowing stock weld are strong enought to not give any p^roblem or break down the road even tho they're ugly, we know your weld are strong enought. mroe than necessary. if it break, as usual it will break elsewhere but not on the welds.

New air box has arrived! As expected, it doesn’t fit. It’s very close though. Only 2 issues. First issue is the cutaway space in the back for the shock does not line up with the angle that I have my shocks sitting. I think this will be an easy fix to just cut it out a bit and reweld with the plastic welder. The other issue is that the snorkel going from the box to the carb is about 1-1/2” too long. I’m wondering what sort of material this is made of and can it be reshaped with heat. It’s not stiff plastic but nearing the rubbery spectrum. If I knew what that funky glue is that they used to attach the snorkel to the box was, I would probably attempt to cut out a section and then glue the carb flange to the end of the shortened snorkel. Looks like after I clear those two hurdles that the mounting tabs on the box will line up with a couple of conveniently placed threaded tab holes on the case.

Today is World Down syndrome Day! Since I’m doing this bike to a Down syndrome awareness theme with the blue and yellow colors, I’ll be adding the lettering “3,21” somewhere to signify 3 copies of the 21st chromosome ( medical name for Down syndrome is trisomy 21… that’s where the whole 3,21 thing comes from). Here’s a pic of my daughter that my wife put up on Facebook to celebrate the day. Did a mock-up of a crash bar on one side. I think it looks like it belongs on this bike.

i hate the airbox. but one thing i like about it is that it show it used to be a scooter, without looking like a scooter. thats perfect to me. cant wait to see your rear shock setup. where is the gas tank from ? a honda ??

I got the tank from Amazon. It was not listed as being for any specific model bike. It does share the lines of 60’s vintage Honda though.

It looks like I spoke too soon when I said the rewelded swing arm was perfect. I hadn’t been able to see it from this angle in the tiny shop. Looks like I have another cut and reweld ahead of me. There seem to be a bunch of optical illusions going on in this photo but the issue is that the swing arm’s shock mount sits about 1/4” higher than the case’s shock mount.

As with most of the purchased parts, the tires (or is it tyres?) came from Amazon🤣.

nice. i would buy everything from amazon too. if amazon canada had at least half of what i need amazon usa sometimes ship to canada, but abusive shipping price. my glixal carb on aliexpress ( official primary Glixal store ) cost me around 35 CAD with shipping, on amazon.com it was 52 US + 38 shipping. i wouldnt buy much Glixal product on amazon as they seems to be problematic ( used return sold as new, fake Glixal with lower quality. iirc its tire in north america, and tyre in some other country like united kingdome. spent days trying to figure that out back in 2013 when i had my turbo'ed 98 hyundai accent.

I was able to just shorten the snorkel and still get it to fit over the carb intake. Put in one of the mounting bolts and then discovered that they in fact do not line up as I thought. They are only a little off so I will be able to embiggen one of the holes in the air box so that I can get the other mounting bolt through it and attached to the case. Glad I waited before putting in the stops for the engine hanger bumpers. Had I put it where I originally thought, the frame would have hit the air box when landing big jumps. Now that I have established the air box exact location, I can put in the engine hanger stops and make the cutout in the air box for shock clearance. With the box moved forward and the rear fender mocked in place, it doesn’t seem so gaudy as when I first set it in there. Saddle bags will cover it up anyway😎🤣😎

I've been a bit busy with some other things and haven't kept up with builds threads lately. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed catching up on the last few pages of this thread. Amazing work! I used to watch a lot of bike building shows and I think a government office guy has more skill than some pro builders that I've seen on TV.
As a (unfortunately crappy) guitar player, I have to know what your guitar parts business is... if you're willing to share. Let me guess... you also play classical guitar at a professional level and use Malmsteen as mere finger warm ups in your spare time. It would not surprise me after seeing how good you seem to be at anything that you want to do.

Not super high level guitar player… a bit of a hack actually. But, I’ve been doing it for 40 years and I can fake it well enough to pull the wool over non-musician’s eyes. I’ve been playing in bands since I was 17. My current group is with two guys older than me playing yacht rock at local breweries and wineries. (See if this works???) m.facebook.com/100068867404048/The guitar part is a B-bender. It is used to emulate pedal steel guitar riffs on a regular electric guitar. www.rollingbender.com

I'm a metal/punk guy so I've never even heard of a B-bender before... but that's really cool!
