The sweet bike i built in the PDI thread I made is here it has Diesel Fuel in it. I had another come to me with Diesel in it and i cleaned it all out but it ended up burning a valve anyway. Sad.

I always thought that all adding diesel to a gas motor would do in most cases was cause poor running or no running. I dunno, the pumps are all clearly labeled so I can't say I've ever been in so much of a hurry or whatever that causes people to accidentally fill up with diesel fuel.
If you drain the fuel system, including the bowl of the carb, I can't see why you'd see any symptoms from adding diesel to the tank.

My father was very preoccupied with a family issue once and he put Diesel in our 72 VW once too. It didnt last long after that either.
Putting Diesel in a Gas motor is supposedly not as bad as putting Gas in a Diesel motor but the ones I have been around didnt last after that. I guess they were about to go out anyway. I will clean it out and get paid, they can hope for the best.

How did somebody ship something with fuel in it? Diesel should just smoke a lot and lube the valve. I would think the plume of black smoke might be a clue to turn the scooter off. Running an open air filter and not jetting properly and changing in the summer and winter, that would burn a valve or piston real quick.

Sometime in the late 70's - early 80's they started making the diesel pump nozzle bigger than gas pump nozzles and putting a thing in the filler neck where a diesel pump wont go in it, too bad chinoscoots dont have that.

I only put diesel in my old Chevelle once because I was out of gas and used it. It was in a gas can at the shop. Then my Dad told me it was diesel after I fogged the country all the way home.

I can't see how diesel fuel would cause a long term problem or cause an engine to wear out faster than normal. If you flush the fuel tank well and clean the carb it should run just like it should right?
