1988 Yamaha razz

I have a 88 Yamaha razz runs amazing got it from a friend he had it in his garage for 30 years I had it 15 minutes had it running but I took off the air filter and replaced it with a sock and it runs top speed the needle goes all the way down to the m on mph pass the 30

Welcome to the forum,nice find but put your sock back on and refit the air filter,you will be running lean and your engine with over heat in short order,post a picture o your filter assy ,it may have restriction you can remove and upjet your carb for safe running.
