So I bought a scooter off FB marketplace. The seller identified it as a TaoTao, but it had Kymco plastics on it, which seemed to fit, sort of (quite a few zip ties were employed) She had bought it used from someone else, so I figured maybe she wasn’t sure. i should have asked to check the vin while I was there, but it was pretty cheap and seemed to run, so I just assumed the best. got it home and wanted to figure out what it actually was, so I started looking for the vin #. well, the joke’s on me, the vin plate under the little window by your feet wasn’t there.
so, now I’m figuring it’s going to be a parts bike. Ok. But I’d still like to know what bike it is so I can know what parts I have. It may still be a Kymco, maybe. Taotao, or something else.
So, are there any suggestions on what I should look for structurally to identify the make/model of this bike?

if it is a Tao Tao, or other random Chinese scooter, there VIn probably is marked on the actual frame tube visible in that window, as opposed to a plate being there. At least the 2 Tao Taos I have had are like this.
You can find the engine model by looking for a stamping on the engine, usually below the CVT cover at the front of the engine, near the center stand. A strong likelihood it is a qmb139, like all of them are.
Make and model of the actual scooter is sort of.....fluid, since most are just the same general models from a few factories, with different brand names slapped on them (like tao tao, Wolf, or Bintelli or a dozen others), and random variations in some plastics.
