There was a scooter drag racing event started back in 2009 thur 2010 called twist and gone (North American Scooter Racing Association)
I remember following it back then but it seemed to just disappeared quietly I think after 2010, not really sure it's been a long time since I last heard of it
I managed to dig up some information but not very much pulls up on Google if any if anyone knows exactly what happened please share

A few of us here had some scoots running there..I guess the nice way of putting it is management problems are what caused its decline...

It went on longer than that, though I can't recall the last events. They had 1 or 2 events in North Carolina as well. There used to be YouTube vids of those, which now I can't find. There was a whole race series for points at the Brown County Dragway in Indiana for at least a couple of years. The sanctioning body was NASRA (North American Scooter Racing Association). They also did a couple of other things like an offroad scooter race and road course races.
The founder had a scooter parts company and he got out of that business. I don't imagine it ever met financial expectations and I don't know that turnout was what they hoped. The scooter scene boomed just before the first events when gas prices were very high and then declined. That couldn't have helped.
I am proud to say I named Twist And Gone and I tried to help with online stuff when NASRA was first started, but that didn't last long at all. I had no desire to invest money and mostly wanted to volunteer with the forum creation and moderation and coming up with drag racing rules. I was hoping to work toward a small rule book to make things clear right from the start but the founder thought that was not necessary and overkill for a small event... and then went on to change rules along the way, which I know for a fact that some racers disagreed with. With the forum up and running and little desire for my opinion on rules, I was no part of it after the very beginning and couldn't tell you anything about it internally.
I appreciate that NASRA was ever created and wish it stuck around. It did at least bring some scooter racers together. I think a scooter racing league or event is particularly tough in the US anyway.

I wish it had hung around, I think there's a small but dedicated group of people enjoying making fast scooters. It'd be a blast to get them all in the same place for events, it just sucks its so hard to do with how big the US is!
