So, the mpg of my scoot is pretty good, I'm guessing its about 70ish...but it holds less then a gallon in the tank...bigger tank time.
Anyone ever have any luck putting an auxiliry tank? As long as the fuel pump is involved, it shouldn't matter what it draws from...right?

When you do it, be sure and take pictures and put it in a how too post I would think if you added the line before the pump with a switching valve it should work ok?

Like Goosey said, make it a T or Y with a reserve valve before the fuel pump and it should work fine. Stepthrutuner used the old oil tank in his 2T as a reserve tank. I just fill up often on mine. Seems much easier than adding another tank to me.

From researching your posts I see you have a 50cc scoot so you don't have a pump you have a vacuum actuated fuel valve that opens when you start the engine and allows the fuel to gravity feed to the carb cause the fuel tank is mounted above the carb. If you add an additional tank and hook the fuel into the line before the fuel petcock with a Y fitting you don't need a switching valve. The fuel is consumed at a set rate by the engine so it won't make a difference. You'll just have two pools to consume from so it will drive farther every fill up. If the reserve tank runs out it will still have fuel flow from the main tank. Hell, you can make the "reserve" tank bigger than the "main" tank. The main thing is to make it easy to fill the second reservoir and to have it above the carb so it gravity feeds to the petcock. The easiest way to achieve that would be to put a tank in a cargo box on the back of the scooter with a vent to allow air into the tank so the fuel can flow freely. You could put a gallon in the cargo box. The only reason for a valve would be so that you would run out of gas in the main tank and have to switch to the reserve tank. I suppose some people would prefer that setup but not me. I would rather just fill up every 50 miles and not modify my scooter.
