I'm trading in, buying a new 49cc scooter. So far I haven't had any kind of trailer or carrier, but want to get one. But I don't want to pay a lot! I've looked at MotoTote, and our vehicle *is* rated high enough to carry a 180lb scooter. BUT what about this cargo carrier... (see image). If properly tied down, can it work, is it safe? (It's rated for 500 lbs) The price is right and it would be a useful carrier for ... other stuff... when not needed for the scooter. Other options?

That looks quite heavy. You should add the weight of that to the scooter to get the correct carrying capacity. I've seen a lot of motocross bikes carried on a mount that fits to the tow bar. Much simpler design than that.

After researching... You are right. I will use a wheel chock in our trailer. Problem solved, thank you.

I was actually just looking at a motorcycle carrier for my TMAX. You could probably get away with carrying a light scoot on something like you posted if it was strapped well, but the carriers often have a wheel chock of some sort and are better designed to be sure your scoot (an anyone around it) makes it safely.

Very cool carrier, can't say I've ever heard of them but would definitely do the job for my 50cc. Thanks

We just drove from Tucson to LA with two bikes on the back of the truck.
