I know they are off typically, but I just grabbed a 150cc VIP Tao Tao that needed just a little work to get going.
Did it and got it going.
It's showing I'm doing 65mph but gps is 48mph. Could have went faster but just a little test cruise.
Is it normal for them to be that far off?
Isnt it adding too many km/m on the odometer by being this far off?

Typically they are around 10% higher than actual speed. But the Chinese like to exaggerate. 😉

5-10% is very common. Over 30% is not.
Some people check speed and put marks on the speedo or cover so they know where some common actual speeds are as a quick fix. Could be the wrong speedo gear or maybe it's got different wheels and tires than it had at one point. Could have always been that way. Hard to know. It's likely to be racking up miles/km too quickly on the odometer.

the faster you go the more unaccurate they are.My 60 mph is 50 gps but 45 is 37 gps.My model could be different because they went from 10 to 12 inch and probably never changed the ratio in speedo.

I think that's my issue. Because I also have a 12" tire. My issue is it's a 150cc and so I'll have to abide by speed limits in town and I'd rather use the speedo on there instead of worrying about a phone holder.
