i picked up a free taotao pony a few weeks ago. had an aftermarket carb and air filter. i deleted the pair system (took off the valve and most of the hoses And plugged the house to the cylinder head with an old spark plug) made a scoop for the cooling fan intake, regrooved the front tire so I could ride it in sand without dying, moved the needle up a notch, and spent $20 on a manual petcock and some fuel filters. goes 35 mph with a tailwind. odometer broken and reads 4050.8 km. total money spent is $20. i'm new to this forum and can't figure out how to post pictures. edit: i found the forum rules and tips section and figured out how to post pictures

went for a long ride, lost coffee can in mud puddle, lost air filter (foam ripped off and was chillin on the starter). I'm just gonna leave the coffee can scoop off, we'll see if the scooter gets hot in the summer. any 38mm filter (that's actually 38mm) will fit the carburetor, right? the old air filter was one of the cheap upgrade ones, and it was fit on the tube that used to go to the old airbox, but it would get covered in dirt from the tire and the tube from the old airbox is cracked. im just gonna put the new filter directly on the carburetor, and run the crankcase hose to the atmosphere.

It's been a while since I updated this. I still have the scooter, and I haven't changed anything on it since replacing the air filter. It still runs good. (not on the 6 month old gas that's in it though) I broke my arm riding mountain bikes so I can't ride the scooter for a while. I'm going to put a big bore kit on it while I can't ride, so it will be ready to go once I can ride again.
