I also have a very similar build for my lady’s vino. Top performance 70 & wild lion. Runs strong & will nudge at 50mph. Kept the oil injection for ease of not mixing.

Even with retaining the oil injection, are you adding a bit of oil to the fuel tank? I saw on one of the Rolling Wrench videos that you need to add a capful or so of oil at each fill to retain the proper ratio.

Not a bit & didn’t do it on either of my 70 zuma’s either. I just run good oil. I do monitor temps which I would argue is more important.

I kept the oil pump on all yamaha zuma and Vino builds and never added oil to the tank. The stock pump keeps up fine with the under 11k rpm builds .
These cast iron low rpm under 9500rpms builds are very easy on cylinders.
Good oil and Monitoring temps and proper jetting keeps these things riunning strong for thousands and thousands of miles

Put in a white contra spring and lower my variator weights by a gram, 5’s and gained 3 mph. 49 mph top speed on flats now.
