Left sunny Ceredigion to head for Merthyr Tydfil pick up ramps for Yolanda's mobility scooter so can get it in car. Hardly any traffic went to take the 2 lane 470 route over the top of the mountains but closed due to serious accident found another way round onto the 465 then hit back to back traffic 20 miles of road cones and roadworks,every roundabout was backed up at all junctions same on way back and it wasn't even rush hour. I must have lived in the backwoods to long where traffic rarely venture's. To much for this old fart think I will stick to the quiet counties around me from now on. I can see how people in some metro areas don't need car's with decent public transport like London and where my daughter is with trams and buses and to think I use to love driving trucks round London doing deliveries and over the south of England where it must be loads worst than Wales. How do you lot cope in the State's with your 6 lane highways 🤪

I'm with you Milly. I'm lucky to live in a rural area where I don't have to deal with that stuff. I can't imagine some of the really bad areas like LA or NYC. I steer clear of that stuff as much as possible.

Even with four, six, or eight lanes traffic is backed up because the moron Stateside colonials don't know how to drive.





We have very little functioning public transport because many cities were built after cars were abundant and everything is far apart. What public transport is available uses the same roadways that cars use so it is slow except in old cities like New York etc back East with subways and elevated trains. Public transport still uses old fashioned concepts like trains and buses where everyone must stop when one person wants on or off which is very inefficient. I figured out a transport system years ago that works differently but I am too old to promote it. The concept will soon die with me.

I think it involved ejection seats on buses and outdoor trains and large umbrellas.

Or was it a train engine that tows ropes and everyone hangs on wearing roller blades. Grab on as it passes and let go when you get to your spot.

Wait. I've got it. We remake our cities with canals to resemble Venice. Small planes fly low over the canals and you jump out, splashing down safely. There's a large funnel sort of device on top of the plane and tall platforms that allow you to dive in to board.

8 years ago, my small town of just under 5k people commissioned a study for my department in the city to get some solid numbers regarding demographics and shopping patterns. One of the most interesting take-aways was that 1/2 of the people in town who work, work outside of town and 1/2 the people who work in town, don’t live here.
125 years ago, it would have been unthinkable and completely impractical to work a job more that a few minutes from where you live. Today, people will sit in traffic or on public transportation for hours each day.
The obvious solution is; live where you work, work where you live. In my town, this would be maybe 1500-2000 less idiots on the road each day. ….in fairness, 750-1000 fewer idiots, the other half is smarter than average.

I do love the laws of average. Take the IQ of every human added up and divide by the number to get the average, and 49% of the world population will be under the average intelligence. Why I stopped getting annoyed by people, not their fault that they are below average intelligence lol

The worst part is the average person is getting stupider with each passing year. Then as we age we loose our marbles at a faster rate. I have lost 40 points to strokes. We are doomed to live in an idiocracy just like the movie. I also like the short story "the marching morons" written clear back in the 50's and it was only about birth control. There have been many more factors involved in the general depression of intelligence notwithstanding video games, facebook, tik-tok, etc, etc, etc. I own several original copies of "the marching morons".
